PYPB XL: Midlife Crisis

Anybody know of a pedal that I can load samples into and trigger from? Something like the Jamman with the memory card slot would be ideal, but I can't justify £200 for something to set off a few seconds of samples. It doesn't need to be able to loop my playing or anything, just playback samples.

Ok, I'm finally going to wade into the PYPB waters. Below is the current state of things, with the arrival of the TR-2 this morning.

It's not in its final form...I think a smaller DI is in order (likely just the non-programmable BDDI...it smooths out the Agro, and makes the BFD rich and chocolately [not sure how else to describe the reduction in the harsh nasaly sound]). Also considering a Mastotron at the front of the chain, possibly a MicroPog, and a Plutoneium Chi bass wah. The tuner can be moved off-board if needed, and I'm not committed to the Nano BassBalls.

The signal chain is: BassBalls Nano -> Phase 90 -> PitchBlack -> Compressor -> LS-2 (Loop A: BFD->Agro->EQ; Loop B: Chorus) -> Flanger -> Tremolo -> Delay -> PBDDI

This all runs into a MarbBass CMD 121P. Basses are a somewhat hot-rodded L2K, and couple of parts/franken p-basses.

Yes, you can run the loops in parallel, and you are seeing it correctly. What I'm going for here is an is having both chorus and distortion on at the same time, but independent of one another rather than interacting. The EQ pulls the bottom out of my distortion loop, mimicing what I'd get running distorted into a guitar amp, while the other half of my signal is unaffected by the EQ.

The inspiration for this is rig that Lee/Squire would run from their Rics, with one bass amp and one guitar amp...just way smaller/cheaper. The tone I get with the EQ and Agro engaged is remiscent of Paul D'Amour's tone on the earlier Tool albums (which was also a Ric).

New setup, scored a 3BOD (that thing is awesome, my wallet hates me but my ears are lovin it)!, moved the TAFM, GR2 and Black Sheep off the board. I'm looking for a dual bypass looper with soft click switches to isolate the OC-2, Oxide and Xero Dlx in their own loop and the Pickle Pie, Frantabit and Modfactor in another one. And I'm still debating an Expressionator.

Other than that, the effects quest is just about complete for me, maybe 2 or 3 pedals to buy to make a mini board and then the Wal funding begins. :bassist:

Nice board! How is your power routing designed? I am asking because your Trex has only 5 outputs and you use it for 9 effects. I also see that you use power output from the tuner - is it hum free solution (no problems with ground loops)?

new board setup.JPG did a couple of changes on my bassboard , took out the digitech bass synth and put back the mxr micro flanger , so the signal chain is line6 g30 relay --> korg pitch black tuner --> mxr bass octave deluxe --> mxr bass envelope filter --> mxr bass fuzz deluxe --> sansamp pbddi --> mxr micro flanger --> mxr wylde phase --> mxr bass chorus deluxe --> mxr carbon copy --> bbe sonic stomp :bassist:

Thanks! It's a bit of a hack job, with several Y-Splitter cables, so multiple pedals are being run from a single output. Not the most optimal solution, as i do have a little bit of hum now, but nothing too noticeable. I already have a PP2 that I'm going to be using on my next build, so that should help simplify things.

it is the wah, and I am selling it. not because it isn't awesome, I'm just not using it too much. I'm actually really on the fence about selling it, cause when I don't have a wah I know I'll miss having one. AFAIK there are only a couple people on the forum who have this one, so they are hard to come by, but it blows the chiwahwah away IMO. I've had a wah on my board since I first had a board, so we'll see if I end up selling it. Still waiting on mrexcane to edit the video he made of it, maybe this pedal will get more interest once hes posted it.
