Quilter? Anybody know this brand?

Been using both BB 802 and Interbass45 (together and separately) for years...the best amps I have ever owned in almost 50 years of playing bass. Great customer service as well. Nothing but big ups for Quilter and I eagerly await their new BB 803v (or whatever they call it

$900 is the asking price. I may lay it away. The power of that combo could really be useful. It sounds like a much bigger rig.

I have that combo as well and as others have attested - its clean and it slams. No need for an extension cab to get 800w because 450 is already LOUD. I run Sansamps in front of it and get my tone for days. @Dr. Cheese - If you can get them below $900, it would be a great deal. Good luck!

The older BB800 is my #1 workhorse. It's feather light but it "slams" like my old pre+power rack. The EQ is very minimal which is fine by me - I've never had a problem getting a good sound out of it.
I've been wanting to try one of the Quilter cabs that would let me dock the amp & get me that combo I've been wanting. If that were to turn up at my local store, I would give it some very serious consideration.
One thing you should note is that these amp heads don't include a conventional built-in pre-master XLR DI. When the sound guy hands you a female XLR, you'll have a little bit of adapting to do with the 802. (At least the 1/4" out can be switched to "pre".)

I would even say "it's impossible to get a bad sound out of it".
(as long as your instrument sounds well of course, and you don't need to compensate for a cab's weird frequency response)

I like how they set up the built-in compression/limiting.
One could experiment with cranking the gain & backing way off on the master - and vice versa.
Or just start w/ everything @ noon, tweak the gain for the instrument if needed & the master for the venue. That's always worked just fine for me; the less I have to think about it, the better.

I had a Quilter BassBlock 802 head with the BassDock 10 cabinet as well as two BassDock 12 cabinets. I would mix and match them depending on the gig.

Absolutely loved the set up. Not really sure why I sold it, but they were fantastic. Very neutral sounding, if need be! I would typically send my effects chain through a Noble and use the XLR out to FOH and the 1/4” out to the Quilter, if I needed an amp on stage.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another rig like that again if the opportunity presents itself. I would most likely just go with the 10 on top of the 12 this time around.

I used the BB800 and a pair of Bassdock 12” cabinets for years, and it is an insanely powerful and flexible setup! If I hadn’t gotten rid of my hatchback, I would still be using it.

I have my pair of Bassdock 12 cabinets listed in the classifieds, if anyone is curious to try them out

Quilter doesn't get the accolades that some brands, Mesa in particular, get around here, but every time I've played through a Quilter amp I've been impressed. And also I've never heard of reliability issues, etc.

I have the Quilter Bass Block 800.

Excellent sound, loud and simple as sh*t to use.

My only experience with the Quilter is playing through one at a gig where another band provided the amp. It was a neutral sound, maybe a little too neutral for me. But it was loud as heck and I had a good time playing through it.

My guitarist plays through a Quilter Aviator 112 and he sounds fantastic.

I've owned the Bass Block 800. Great little amp! For the size and money, it packs a lot of power. EQ on the BB800 is quirky, but yours is the 802 which is more straight-forward in EQ controls.

For me, the tone was too neutral, I prefer the amp to have some voice and character. Switched to Mesa Subway, never looked back.

The amps are a bit neutral, set at 12:00 they are transparent. You can run any other pre or pedal through them, however, and get whatever "sound" it is you want. These amps are really "power blocks".
