IMHO the number one advantage the BB800 has over other amps is Quilter's proprietary dual-stage limiter in its preamp. This is what gives the amp its noticeable heft and weight many have described, along with its seemingly bottomless power.

Sure, the two knob EQ is simple and refreshing, but the magic is the limiter! Ride that GAIN knob into nirvana. With EQ flat, it simply amplifies the signal one puts in and enrobes it in heft behind the limiter.

The BB800 has replaced a 2000 Watt power amp that used to drive my Fearless cabinets and I am never going back to rack mounted gear for a bass rig!

Wow, that is impressive. With the gain up on the BB, will it starts to add fur and drive in the way tube front end may or is it a clean machine?

It doesn't really overdrive. It does compress a lot more the higher you have the gain.

Past maximum limiting, there really is no fur worth mentioning. It is best a clean machine.

I fully process my tone before it hits the Quilter therefore I am not at all troubled by the above, nor the lack of specialized tone shaping via the two knob EQ, nor the varying XLR output level situation. Worth mentioning is that I do rely however on the two-knob EQ for "finishing touch" adjustments on site at the gig.

I am extremely pleased with the BB800!

Ok, gotcha, I have plenty of tone shaping options on the way in, including stuff like a Bass Fly Rig and my latest secret weapon.... the OmniCabSim...it’s not just for simming cabs anymore.

That and the Alpha Omega as well as some bass EQ pedals.

How do you like the OmniCabSim? Patrick Hunter's YouTube clips of it were pretty great

I typically only use my F212, with the BB, but lately I've been flirting with taking out the F112 alone. Hmmm

One F112 with the BB can usually handle most gigs, but I bring both F112s anyway as the two-woofer mojo is magical! (as you already know.)

Oh, I am most definitely buying one of these. The, doesn't ship til the end of November, ain't gonna bother me one bit. Thanks for mentioning this pedal. I can tell it's gonna rule.

No fur. Not even peach fuzz. Just a really cool compression.

Here’s a question for the Bass Block Brothers...is the Quilter open and uncongested? I gravitate toward amps that have a very clear (if you will) and uncluttered tone...let’s me get that piano string chime that I’m addicted to. I guess that may loosely translate to a preference for an uncolored tone although I do appreciate an SVT for what it does.

I’ve read every page of this mega thread and for all the minor niggles I’ve read, there seems to be this overwhelming happiness with this little bundle of joy. I’ve owned and/or played just about every class D offering under the sun except this one.

Quilter power amps have a stellar reputation and that means something to me especially in respect to the power section. Not sure how much longer I can hold off especially at this price point.

Definitely not congested, but not thin by any means, either.

Does the master volume have a smooth rotation (like normal) or does it "click" into detents for each corresponding wattage listed?

How do most play this amp? Do you set your master dependent on what your cabinet can handle and use the gain as the volume or the more traditional approach of setting gain and master to taste? Thanks.

Detents.
For me: all knobs at 12:ish and adjust master. But I find anything between 11-1 o'clock, for all isn't wrong at all.
