It was a Fender, so it’s all good! You can just put the shipping label on the back of the neck and ship it. It will survive.

This should be on an episode of Ripley's Believe it or Not. Yeah, UPS has some explaining to do as well as the seller. This is incredible
Kudos to the Mono M80 bags. They are tough and durable. I have two of these types of bags myself and I love them. You might want to send the photos to Mono. You might get a a discount or a gift certificate since marketing will make great use of your info.
So glad the bass came in good condition. You got lucky. Whew.

Since others are sharing their experiences, I’ll share one of my favorites.
In 2003, I bought a ‘63 P that arrived with just a shipping label stuck to the case. No box or packing material whatsoever. Seller didn’t even tape the latches closed. It was a miracle that there wasn’t any damage to the bass, just a big sticky mess on the case from the label. That was disturbing, but not the worst part of the story. The UPS driver was apparently a bass player. As I was signing for it, the driver said man, this bass is sweet I checked it out on my lunch break.

WOW that's just shocking! It really is...... if that was mine I would be filing a complaint and never buying from them again, deary dear. Hope the bass is doing good.

I once received a vintage classical guitar shipped in an old flimsy fiberboard guitar case with the case taped closed and a label slapped on it. Kudos to the carrier who got it to me undamaged.

I literally laughed out loud when I looked at the first pic! Glad it somehow arrived safely. Zero F’s given by whoever shipped that to you, lol. Congrats on the new instrument. You should name her “Lucky” if you name your basses.
Freaking yikes! Glad it arrived ok, looks like a cool bass.
Once I received a Lakland 55-02 wrapped in stretch film inside a very thin gigbag only protected by the same stretch film. Luckily it arrived ok.
This as my worst shipping experience but still better than the OPs.
Got a guy in my complex who is a casket wholesaler and does “transport”: picks up bodies at the airport and delivers to the various funeral homes. I’ll have to ask him if he runs into this…cardboard, tape, bubble-wrap, packing peanuts.

That's more protection than how schecter is shipping stuff out from factory
They ship the boxes folded in a bag. You then bend the box back into shape from the center and tape the ends. Whenever I've purchased a Reverb box, shipping was free.
I was very confused when the delivery man handed me a flat bag the first time.
I wish I'd taken a picture as received of my Ibby ASB140 I just bought...thankfully it was in a HSC but there was just a single layer of the small bubble wrap around the case...bought on Reverb, sent via USPS. The bass itself was wrapped in the same packing inside the HSC. There were a few dings on the case but at the age of the bass, 20 years old, probably shouldn't be too surprised about those.
I just can't believe how some stuff is shipped these days. I suppose it's possible, because it was shipped from Canada, that customs opened it and then re-wrapped it in whatever they had on hand but I'd rather doubt it.
