RARE Fender club

Just got a new one in, she already has a couple of posts on here but I figured she needed to be in the rare room. Though she's not as rare as an all original matching headstock 65-65 she pleases the eye just the same, and she plays like a dream. This is Betty, an old school mut that lives in the pocket!

Surprised I haven't seen one of those odd 5-string Fender basses from the late 60's yet!

I played one once, what a bizarre instrument. I think it had 15 frets!

Would my candy tangerine jazz bass qualify? it is from 2002 and i don't think it is a fsr or anything, but i've gotten the impression that the candy tangerine jazz basses are fairly rare/ desirable.

I think this qualifies as "rare".

A 1978 Maple Fretless Antigua Finish P-Bass. Some call the color "pukeburst". Fair enough. This is the only fretless maple example I've come across & I love it!

I have the same thing...
But mine is a little bit smaller...and has frets...and is a strat >.>

Here's my contribution. 82' 57 RI 0008** serial # One of the first ones made in the old Fullerton plant and it's under 8lbs to boot. Light and resonant as hell.....

All of these basses look amazing and I bet their sound is just as impressive. Congrats to everyone on owning such fine instruments, I hope to be a proud owner of a vintage Fender one day.

Buy one now, and in 20 years you'll have a "Vintage Fender"

I don't know if this can be called a RARE Fender but I wanted to post and see what you Players think of if.

I just picked this up and I did not know what it was. I have learned some about it. This bass was made in Japan in 1980 or 1981. It is not in perfect condition as it had a sticker that left a light circle on the front. The head has some of the plastic over the HM logo missing. It has a few dings on the body but it plays and sounds great. I have NOT played it at stage volume but it has a wonderful range of sounds with the Three pickups and the 5 way switch. I am really starting to "like" the feel and sounds.

I have more photos if anyone wants to see them just ask.

Nice HM4 oldbassdude-hang on to it. I really enjoy my HM5 (it's on page 2 of this thread, along with another HM4). The tone variation of these things is really something, and it's hard to find a better playing Fender.

I had one of these in blue. With a black pickguard and EMG P/Js it sounded great and played... pretty well if you like narrow necks. I wish I still had it; I sold it cheap with the original pickguard, pickups and the black pickguard tossed in.

Backplate serial # starts with the letter 'L'. These were the last run of the Pre-CBS jazz basses.

my 1996 jazz 5 i think it is number 128. however as i get older i find my mind not functioning like it should. i am 100% sure it is numbered somewhere between 1 and 500. does that make me eligible to join the club? i am not sure with some of the incredible instruments i have seen in this thread. crap i cant find the picture! pics to follow when i locate them.

It has a small chip here and there, but for a '65 its remarkably clean, the OHSC is in the same shape minus one sticky latch. Picked it up back in '03.
