Really Bad Club Owners

I used to play at a club years ago that was real cool when we first started playing there. It was owned by a husband/wife who were very easy to deal with. They later sold out to a couple of guys who could best be described as "shady". The first time we played there under the new owners, one of them made a big charade of laying his pistol on the desk while he was paying me - clearly with the idea of intimidating me.

I have a low tolerance for this kind of crap, so the next time we played there, I borrowed a S&W .45 Magnum from my older brother, who was a policeman at the time. I go to the office to get paid. Shady club owner lays his pistol on the desk, so I pull the .45 mag out and lay it on the desk as well. He looks up and says, "Hey, what's with the piece?" I replied, "Well, I felt bad for not having something for show and tell last time."

I never saw his gun again after that.

Funny thing is if you google Mike Demino club florida, the article comes up top! But the club name gets the club website and other news.

I could barely make it through that garbage he called an article, we just had a run in with a booking agent down here. We scheduled a show with a touring band out of south carolina for a venue that is known for screwing musicians, but it was the only one available at the time. Two days before the show we found out he put two more band on the ticket cutting the pay in half and wanted us to each play 35. The pay wasn't that much of an issue, but playing 35 minutes it takes longer than that to set up my gear. We said we want an hour or we're not unloading, we got our hour and told all of our buddies to boycott. There is also word of the place shutting down.

If that author was so disgusted with the club, why did he repeat the link to it so many times? Something's fishy here.

I know what you mean, but at least for me, he repeated it enough times for me to at least remember where NOT to go. If he had only listed it once, I'd have more trouble recalling it if you quizzed me.

I guess that the more the place and the d-bag operator's names are repeated, the more quickly their 15 minutes will get used up?...

The author may not have put those links in himself...sites that are pay-by-click will sometimes insert hot-links like that after the article has been written, hoping to get more traffic (and revenue) that way.

I have been in very similar situations before: had a club owner get the "heavies" out, gave us about 1/3 of promised money, then, as we were getting ready to pull out with the vans, he stops us, and hands a six pack through the window, and says: hope there's no hard feelings" ( there were about 10 of us altogether, what are we gonna do, sip the bottle and pass it around? LOL
