the mini bass stack ... Ibby Promethean 3110 / ACME B1

micro mini gtr practice stack ... Blackstar Fly ... but i prefer my Tascam GB-10 / buds

i'm working on making keyboard patches to switch from bass gtr to left hand key bass ... and/or trying to get the McMillen 12 step to play some key parts/chords along with bass gtr . Which might be more trouble than it's worth in midi headaches . !

probably ad a powered PA type speaker and run keys/ bass in stereo , panned to their appropriate amps .. ?!

the small white speakers are a couple Polks ... an old stereo in the rack , powered sub in the bottom of rack ... just to make noise and play along with stuff on rare occasions , .. and save wear/tear on the studio monitor side of things ... but i use headphones most of the time .

as usual , i'll be overly honest ... the Promethian is OK , and might be OK with an Ext cab for very small gigs ..
i'd rather have more control over the tweeter ... it has on/off , i'd like -3, -6 , off ... or a volume control ...
i haven't really pushed it very hard in the Den yet ..? sitting on top the ACME B1 , it's up where i can hear it better ... i love the B1 cab , but since it's less efficient , it's not as loud as the Ibby ( bummer )
i should also try my RMI ClassicBoost/EQ in front of the Ibby , since my basses are all passive ... ( it's in use with the modeling stuff ) as the EQ on the amp doesn't seem to quite match up with the cabs natural sound ?

before this , i had a little Carvin MB10 ... which , for very similar money , i liked much much better ...!! my cousin needed an amp / bass ... sold a couple off cheaply ... ( bummer -again )

if i was going to play out in a band setting ... i'd want to check out the newer Ashdown Rootmaster combos .?!!

Thanks, it's good to know the dirty on something like that. I have toyed with getting one for small gigs because they run cheap, but had the same fear that they wouldn't check any of the boxes.

Interesting that you mention the rootmasters...I love my Ashdown abm, I didn't even think about those.

not that i'm one to give out unsolicited advice .... but ;

after talking with my accountant that i've used since the 80's ...

he affirmed my thoughts of the dangers to our Credit from the Equifax data breach ...

therefore , i have , and would advise everyone , to go online and Freeze your credit at all 3 credit bureaus !!!

did mine yesterday .. !!

Thanks for the advice, changing all Debit and Checking cards over to new ones and changing passwords and maybe even usernames wouldn't help with anything though right?

Instead of freezing all credit.

Freezing or Locking your credit keeps anyone from applying for any credit in Your name ... !! since a lot of our info was hacked , ' date of birth , SS , credit card info , names/address , etc ' ....

lots of a*s-hacks can apply for credit on line using whomever's info .. !




How do I place a freeze on my credit reports?
Contact each of the nationwide credit reporting companies:

  • Link Removed — 1-800-349-9960
  • Link Removed — 1‑888‑397‑3742
  • Invalid Link Removed — 1-888-909-8872
You'll need to supply your name, address, date of birth, Social Security number and other personal information. Fees vary based on where you live, but commonly range from $5 to $10.

After receiving your freeze request, each credit reporting company will send you a confirmation letter containing a unique PIN (personal identification number) or password. Keep the PIN or password in a safe place. You will need it if you choose to lift the freeze.

Last quick question, did they give you an idea how long it takes to unfreeze your credit when you do need it?

so far , it seems that i can just go into ' my new account ' and turn it on/off ... !? i am new to this process also ... to remove the Freeze/Lock completely might take longer and involve a small fee .. ?? i did a quick Bing Search to get some info ... then sent my accountant an email ..

from what i've read , it does not affect creditors you already do business with ... such as , i've been thinking of refinancing my house using the same bank ... the Freeze would not affect that process ... for quite a while paying higher mortgage interest was OK as a right-off ... these days i don't need as many right-offs , so lower interest looks better .. !

i have the old Pitch Pipe also ... typical soprano uke tuning was probably the original idea ... My Dog Has Fleas ... A D F# B on the pitch pipe ...

i used a set of Classical gtr strings with similar gauges as the uke set , ... i wanted the ball ends .. ! to lazy to fight with the knot tying .. ! and i went for the lower oct bass side string ... another uke option ... i just tuned it like the top 4 notes on a gtr ... st least i could attempt a couple chords on the tiny fret board ! or maybe Smoke on the Water . ! ha ... the old nickel/ steel parts were a true PITA to get un-pitted and polished a bit ... got to use everything i had in the garage/tool chest ... but my Dad was quite surprised and happy to see it looking better and actually working ... just rec'd and installed 1 missing hook/nut for the top head today ... contacted a few people on ebay that were selling these to see if they had any spare parts .?? $10 got me a couple 90 yr old spare parts ...

it goes good with an old 1920's Armstrong pre-FM band tube radio that i rec'd from my wife's 96 yr old dad .

not sure what i'll do with this old stuff ... !!??

That would be kinda awesome to hear! :thumbsup: Conceptually, it reminds me of a special event I got to see back in 2009. A friend had free passes, courtesy of the Village Voice, to the last night of the Golden Pasties, a New York City burlesque-fest awards show. No way was I gonna pass on her invitation! One of the acts was a trio…one woman and two musician-dudes who were rockin' a ukulele and an upright bass respectively.

In the middle of the event, the trio came back on stage to do a fun, goofy number paying homage to their sponsor, Pabst Blue Ribbon. Now, try to imagine this trio belting out a few measures of the Beastie Boys song "Girls", but replace every shouted out line, "Girls!", with "Pabst!". :roflmao:

What made it even cooler, not to mention a bit surrealo_O, was the ukulele one of the guys was playing. I noticed a cord running from it to the floor and, presumably, to the house PA system. Not a surprise, right? He wants it to be heard over the din of the club. Only I had never seen a uke miked-up for amplification. But that wasn't the best part…

Once they did the chorus of their retooled "Girls/Pabst" song, they paused to let a long note ring-out. Then I see the guy stomp down hard onto something on the floor. Instantly, my eyes went wide and I shouted out, "No way?!:jawdrop:" It turns out yes-way, his uke was a running through a distortion pedal!:woot: Suddenly, he's got his uke screeching like a Jimmy Page solo! But wait, there's more…

After a few, long seconds of wailing by "The Most Metal Ukulele Ever

", all three of them shout to the crowd, "No Sleep Til…!", followed by the appropriate power chords and the audience responding with, "…BROOKLYN!!"

Ever since then, I've learned to never underestimate the capabilities of a ukulele in the hands of demented creative and twisted inventive people. :D
