Hey DavC I live next door to where you lived when you won the lotto. I know a member of old Easy Street band you were in. It was interesting reading your story and places around here you mentioned. What other bands around here did you play in?

born / raised in Akron ... until 1969 ... moved to Tallmadge ... high School rock band ' Zacharia ' ... then played down in the lakes for a while in a 50/60's band ... some duos/trios .. then Easy Street in 79 ...
started The Full House Band in 81 ... then did a duo playing mostly Brown Derby's for many years .." Joker "
was in a wedding/corp party band .. too many free drinks = can't remember band name .!! then was in Badge for a little while ... won lotto - met wife #3 ... ( lead singer's girlfriend - ha .!! )

Easy Street started out as The Rats .... Badge started out as The Measles ( with Joe Walsh )
i played keys / trumpet in Easy Street ... back in the days that Drew Carey was at our Cleveland Agora college ID night gigs ..

studied piano with local Akron jazz legend - Pat Pace ... his son , Adam , is a drummer in a band down here in Tampa area ...

can't wait to get back to the area ..!!

I have to ask, why do you put ' ...' after so many words? It's rather strange looking at your postings :roflmao:

I do that too..... depending on the context of the conversation. I tend to write like I talk ...

i think the Dots ( ... ) are like rests ... i'm thinking ... don't like stuff all crammed together .? my typing is as jumbled as my thoughts .?..
before we start our responses ... in this Box it reads ... " Write your reply... "

Se now... when I reasd stuff like that I hear the person talking to me in my head... as if it were a conversation..

first , i like to thanks the Mods for letting this long winded post ( in the Basses section go on and on about other stuff not so much bass related ..!! thanks ..!! i'll try to get is back to base/bass .

regardless of my 'dumb luck' , i still find this time of year rather depressing ... never quite pin pointed exactly why , as i'd guess it's been a ever-moving target ...

first thing to cheer me up ... More Mods ..!!! and another pedal i don't need ...

just installed a Fender Super 55 split coil in my cheap Strat ... middle position ... older Noiseless at the neck , dual ceramic blades at bridge .... i have a set of the Super 55's in my beater bass build ... i have found them to be the most 'single coil' sounding of the humbucking types ...

then re-assembled my Low-B 5 string ... took the Warmoth neck off and all it's hardware, listed it for sale .
it has a 1 7/8 nut , my other Warmoth 5vers are the 1 3/4 nut ... didn't think my old arthritic hands would notice ..! whoops ... but , i got bored and impatient and started sanding it down until it felt a good bit better ... now back together ... so far it's OK . Now i think it's time for a custom pick guard ... my fav has always been shade of white pearl ( white, cream, aged ) . Currently it's naked - no guard .

also recently pre-order a new pedal ... ( wife's birthday present i told her she bought me .! ha ... soon after she showed me a new sweater thing she ordered and said i just bought it for her birthday ..! ) That's kinda how it goes when you really don't need stuff ,... and shop year around ... anyway, order the new Keeley 'Super Phat Mod' pedal ... always looking for some tube-like amp grit for bass & gtr ...

but the last couple days , the Xmas decorating crap has been coming out ... i still find it strange to get a sun burn while decorating outside .! bah humbug

In 1985 I won a Silver Bullet football commemorating the NFL playoffs in a bar in Craig, Colorado. I still have the football somewhere... didn't have to pay any winnings taxes on it.....

I think my bass would be a couple Pedulla 4 strings...

even after giving the X half of my winnings , and agreeing to pay $1,000 a month in child support ... she still did everything she could to turn my son against me ... still trying to undo that damage ...!!

one of the worst - the X took my dog to the freakin pound ...!! couldn't find her ( a young beautiful Blue Merle Aussie ) ... and of course the X took the other dog she supposedly bought for me ( that I paid for - a large Rottie ) ...

That's amazing you still had to pay her monthly.

Sorry to hear about your son and the dogs. Giving the dogs away was just flat out mean and spiteful.

I gotta say, this was an excellent read! Thank you for all your ramblings and advice DavC. I gotta admit it reminds me of Neil Young's book. He goes off on some great tangents and stories, but the lessons he's and you've learned seem to be quite invaluable.

Thanks again dude!

Why do you keep bumping a really old thread with really irrelevant stuff? This is the 'Basses' section of the forum, man...

what? what do you mean? you have read this entire thread and what it is about? this is one of the best threads on the bass forum.. haha... its about money and lots of it.. and ex-wives.. and girls and dogs.. and did I mention lots of money, which means you can buy ultimate basses and amps.. whats better than that?

is there something I missed on why you said this?

why ... cause it's my thread ... music has been my life since i was 6 (piano ) , bass/gtr since age 12 ...

with 16,000 views , thus far ... why not ... my early retirement gives me more time to fiddle, shop , work on music stuff ...

it did start as a Reply to other posts regarding ' what bass would you buy , if ..... ' after that , the thread kinda grew legs and has a life of it's on ... which i have thanked the mods/TB for letting the dribble continue .

as with any subject , .... don't like it , not interested ... feel free to move along ..
