Happy Birthday to our big boy Reggie ( Red Merle ) ... our newer Aussie is now 2 yrs old ... a young dog .!

which also means our previous , Rascal ( Blue Merle ) , will have been gone for almost 2 yrs ...another great Aussie ..!!

I'm a full time financial planner and I have to give you kuddos for not going completely crazy and blowing the entire wad. I see that a lot. Way too much to be honest.

the thing that kinda pisses me off about the tax man , ... is they just couldn't wait until the next tax filing time .. !! they had to swoop in and grab ' their share ' before i ever even got to touch it ... as if ' they ' won !! well i guess they did , kinda ... ha

if you have some money ... find someone you trust to help you .. !! i'm not a fan of paying un-necessary fees, especially if said fees are redundant ... or the costs/expenses are to high ... there is never a good excuse for Not doing your own research .. !

According to The Punctuation Guide, three periods is an ellipsis.

The ellipsis is primarily used to indicate an omission. It can be an intentional omission, such as when you’re using a quotation but want to skip over a portion of it. Consider the following quote from Stephen King:

"Fiction writers, present company included, don’t understand very much about what they do — not why it works when it’s good, not why it doesn’t when it’s bad."

If space is tight, you might want to omit part of the quotation, but you still need to indicate a missing piece of text. You would use an ellipsis:

"Fiction writers . . . don’t understand very much about what they do — not why it works when it’s good, not why it doesn’t when it’s bad."

Invalid Link Removed

but, just like the BOX we get to right replies in has 3 dots , so do a lot of my posts with unfinished sentences ..!! ha - but then again , i was a quadruple music major , Not English ...

my lotto card had the dots in the right places ..!?

trying not to go broke has been a job in itself ... 98% of all lotto winners are flat broke in well under 10 yrs ..

i working on yr 23 ...

spent lots of time taking care of various family members ... getting my wife thru several major surgeries ... she was in a terrible car accident back in 1971 at age 16 ... broke nearly everything on the right side of her body ... many things have come back to haunt her ... let alone being brought back from flat lining ...

i teach here and there ,..( piano/bass/gtr ) . help elderly neighbors with stuff around their houses ... for me , pocket change that keeps me away from the ATM ... and i have done a few gigs once in a while ...

definitely want to get back up to Ohio ... really wanna play with several older/previous bandmates ...

my folks live right next door ... they're in the mid 80's ... keeping an eye on them , and planning my finances to mesh with future inheritance ..!? without giving any more than necessary to the tax man .!

strangely , the last couple years i've spent a lot of time raising our crazy new high energy Aussie puppy ..!
one of the smartest and most stubborn dogs i've ever dealt with .. at 2 yrs , he was 70 lbs and all muscle !
which is a challenge considering the wife , folks , and being surrounded by Floridiot old folks .!!

Ok so your aren't really "investing" haha.. well in this sense you are... investing your time.. with family/friends etc..

I meant more like in stocks or becoming a part owner of some small business to make some side-money..

That's funny about your little dog.

anyway, it sounds like life is just passing by somewhat nicely.. and that's good.

p.s.- I spend a of time up in Northeast Ohio.. Send me a message whenever you get to Ohio if you are anywhere near the Northeast.. we can drink beer and talk bass/jam (Cleveland etc..)

Y'know…I forgot about the "omission" usage. Neat-o-cool and thanks for the reminder! :thumbsup:

And yes, I intentionally used an ellipsis in that first sentence. Since I try to write and type in a fashion indicative of how something would sound if it were spoken aloud (there are notable differences between spoken and typed sentences), I often use them to indicate a brief, mid-thought pause. In other words, I try to write like a scriptwriter, not limiting myself to the burps and burbles of more commonplace internet posts.

Faltering or Interrupted Speech
The ellipsis may also be used to represent faltering or interrupted speech:

“Well, I . . . uh . . . don’t know,” she said.

Pauses
We can also use an ellipsis to indicate a pause or unfinished thought. At the end of a sentence, an ellipsis represents trailing off into silence.

It's a bit of a crutch, for sure, but I don't mind my postings having their own, somewhat unique flair. Just don't get me started on my aggressive overuse use of the terms "however", "though/although" and "meanwhile". :rolleyes: :facepalm:

investing ... oh yes ... first with my bank at that time 's brokers ... but not long after , my personal accountant , taxes from my music playing / daytime working days ... had got his broker/insurance license ...

so i moved my money over to various funds/accounts using him ... with him , i/we can more easily discuss my ideas regarding various funds ...

currently ... ( the bigger names , versus actual individual funds ) ... Vanguard , Putnam , Franklin/Temp , American Funds . I/we look for funds with low costs and a long history of good solid returns ... and i have probably more than the average amount of tax free funds ...

avoided getting involved into a business or a bar/club with anyone , mainly because of liability issues ... when you have a chunk o cash , you don't wanna get sued ..!!

Ofcourse this is probably obvious, and you have lawyers and accountants and all that but, Well, just letting you know, Amazon, Facebook and Google, are something to think..., I mean waste..., I mean "invest". your millions in.. you won't be sorry and they ain't going out of business any time soon...ha.

anyway, I think it's so great you are still human after winning the Lotto.. You seem to keep it real, So in my book, you're the lucky cool dude who had it all.. or did you? haha.

As far as the business thing, I was kinda thinking about things like creating inventions or something for bass or guitars etc.. not necessarily bars and clubs...

Keep posting here with updates as nobody would ever have done what you did after winning the Lotto and still be cool enough to post here on Talkbass..
