recent thread about winning Lotto and Basses ... my experience ..!

That's amazing you still had to pay her monthly.
Sorry to hear about your son and the dogs. Giving the dogs away was just flat out mean and spiteful.

Child support is independent of the property settlement..

Why do you keep bumping a really old thread with really irrelevant stuff? This is the 'Basses' section of the forum, man...

Don't piss in the beer man.. pull that zipper up .... and have a pint..

...... part duex ... a rather personal question for the collective ; ' Father's Day ' ... sadly in my son's almost 32 yrs , i've had 2 , maybe 3 , Happy Father's Day cards/wishes ..!? you'd think after giving mom a few mil and paying 1k a month child support for a decade , and having been Mr Mom while playing full time 6 nights a week ... this lack of giving a crap has really ruined Father's Day for me ...!!?? i've been rather grumpy for a couple days . Which is fairly out of character . I usually can just ' let things go ' ,...!!? but this bug is still stuck in my butt for some reason ..?? equally pissed at the mom & child , as they both own it ... she should have taken care of it when he was young , and then at some point we all grow up ..?? maybe ..?!

i am way off base finding this behavior - disheartening and disrespectful ...???

and should i just try harder to let it go ..? knowing my dog loves his Daddy very much ..!?? ( as long as i promise to never make him swim again .! )

Tough call... sooner or later he is going to come around.. Don't try to let it go .. because that would mean you would have to loose a part of yourself.. Your love for him .. even though he doesn't appreciate it at the moment is a part of you .. but what you have to do is find that safe place to put it until he comes around.. Our kids do not always see clearly .. and you have to realize for some kids to be able to admit that dad was not the villain... (unless there is some stuff that we do not know.. and I just don't get that "prick" vibe from you ..) means that mom was the one.. and some kids are less capable of hurting or offending mom than dad.. When I got divorced from wife number 1 .. for YEARS my kids.. (one is the daughter tat did not speak to me..) blamed me .. even though they both KNEW that their mother was a real piece of work.. It is only recently that the youngest .. now 38 has been able to see what happened more honestly and more realistically .. My kids from divorce number 2 which was recent.. as in she left on Dec 16 2016.. and I did not see it coming at all ... only with hindsight.. hell we had just bought a house the previous year .. almost to the day .. but those three are all adults and they have no problems with me at all.. but sometimes when they are younger .. they cannot look at the facts in perspective until they begin to go through some stuff in life .. There is an old saying.. that fathers are not appreciated until they are gone.. I think that is true...

not a lot of excitement lately ...!? maybe it should be expected 25 yrs after winning the lotto ... heck , i rarely play any more ... maybe when i fill up the boring SUVs .. ha

i have surprisingly found some flatwounds that i really like ... Rotosound 77 ( SM77 - 40,60,80,100 set )
sound really good , thick and funky ... feel a tiny bit stiff , but OK ... good feel to both hands/fingers ... at not a bad price ..!

slightly melancholy this holiday season ... birthdays for wife and myself this month , my folks anniversary ,... all firsts since my fathers' passing this summer ... kinda new feelings for mom and myself this year ... and our first Aussie - Rascal ( RIP ) birthday is in a couple days .. sorry , not trying to whine ... guess i should just and write a sad mellow tune to help ' get it out ' ..!!??

here's a rather boring tune i wrote when my grandmother passed ... ( mistakes and all )

That .. brought tears to my eyes.. It kind of reminds me of a Laura Story song .. "Blessings" .. I know the chords are not similar at all .. but it had that same kind of vibe on me..

had a couple Duo gigs lately ... went well ... playing about 80% keys/left hand bass , 20% bass gtr ...

enjoying new rebuild of J bass ... got a MiM lined fretless J , swapped some pieces parts around ... i'll try the fretless with a more acoustic type group a play with in the warmer months .. ( when i don't sing lead ..! ) with just 1 ear , i have found it very hard to impossible to sing and play fretless ..!!??

also getting reacquainted with some flats ... liking the Roto Monel 77 on the fretted bass , and Ti's on the fretless ...
5ver still wearing roller wounds ( trying a set of Pure Blues ) which i find a bit stiffer than my normal GHS Pressurewound lites ..

hey ... need to chill out ..!?? drown out the noise in your brain for a bit ..?? get some sleep ..!?

try this ... a Meditation type CD i recorded a few years ago . with a little guidance from a local Yoga instructor ...

my main purpose behind this CD was for my wife = to help her get to sleep ..! as most sleepy time CD's seemed more annoying than relaxing ..! ha ... secondly , i wanted to learn how to work a newer keyboard and module i had gotten back then ... and getting all my keys sync'd up and playing nice together ... all record mostly live in single takes ...

good night ..!!

I remember that album. You sent me a copy after we were discussing massage therapy and pain relief tips. Good stuff…very relaxing.

Congrats. I always get excited when I win my $2 back. I've never won an outrageous amount but still feels good obviously to win something from time to time. Ha ha on the divorce comment though.

...I am pretty sure you're a long lost uncle of mine though...haven't seen ya since like 1994...

I'd spend half on a Squier and the other half foolishly. :roflmao: Nah, I'd get a Marleaux.
Awesome choice! I've 'ed over those ever since I discovered them online. What kind would you go for?

If I won my own lottery jackpot, I'd be tempted to get a four-string Contra model in a fiery crimson-ish finish to give it a "Red Mendelssohn" look.

A fretless Diva or a fretless Contra. I like the Diva better. It's unique.

father's day ... worked on latest parts bass setup ... trying to dial it in with new Ti rounds and strong mag pups = model j ... interesting feeling/sounding strings , as unique as Ti flats ...

still not my most fav day , as discussed in previous posts ... didn't here from son - again , and 1st father's day since my dad passed a yr ago ...

maybe i'll restring something else ... = zen

might be having a fire sale in a couple months on all gear bass/gtr related .. ! bummer ... i blame Covid

I fell exiting drugstore a few days back , misjudged sidewalk to parking lot step .. ( had new stronger Readers on and mask , while folding up 3 ft long receipt ) landed on knees , then hands , tiny scrape on forehead ..
got up , gathered stuff ... noticed left hand, tip of ring finger, was pointing about 45 degrees down and inward ... couldn't move it on its own ... used other hand to straighten it ( with no pain )
my guess - torn extensor tendon = mallet finger .? i've kept it straightened since injury ,.. put home made splint on to keep it straight ... now have some other splints ..

got appt with nurse practitioner on Monday ... got Xrays of hand ... still know nothing for sure ... except splinting kinda makes your hand rather useless .. ha ... guess i'll go get copies of Xrays/report tomorrow and continue my own info quest ..!!?? have friends that are docs ,... maybe they can read Xrays well enough ...

if not for Covid ... i would have hand enough hand wash crap for a couple years ..!! and wouldn't not being keeping my readers on for some eye protection ... or missing some peripheral vision from a mask ...!!

guess i might have to get back to focusing on keys ... 9 OK fingers is enough ..! that ring finger on your fretting hand seems pretty pivotal for bass / gtr - leads/bending/vibrato or chords ... my guess at the injury is called - Mallet Finger ... if anyone has had that happen ..? seems to be a sports type injury - jamming finger , tearing tendons .. also same hand that has ruptured tendon in wrist ...

have followed the thread in the past, hadn't seen it surface since March until today.
Sorry to hear about your fathers day , I lost my dad back in 2008, miss him dearly. Hope your finger is on the mend soon :)
