Recommend me a backup bass!

so you want a backup for your sr505 ... which is 34" scale , with a fairly thin neck ... and you want Long scale , which to me is 35" and a wide neck ... ?? i would think that would feel kinda strange to go to as a backup .. ?? unless you want a backup that is totally different .. ? which mine kinda are .. !

first thing that came to mind was Schecter , Squier/Squire ( whichever u prefer - it's not a spelling B ) , ESP , is the Dimension long or standard scale .. ? i like those also ... !

Why not an SR305? I recently joined a steady working band and the gig requires a five string. I only have one so I'm looking for a backup and I randomly picked up an SR305 last week and I was very pleasantly surprised. For the money it really was an excellent bass. Certainly good enough to be used as a backup.

My trusty Ibanez Sr505 poopie the bed on me earlier this week. The bands I'm gigging with currently all require 5 strings, and this was my only 5'er :'( Obviously I'll be repairing the Ibby, but it's become apparent that I need a backup. I'm borrowing a friend's bass for the weekend, but it's very temporary and definitely not for sale.

Here's my criteria:

Must have 5 strings
Sub - $700 including case
Prefer active pups
Prefer longer scale length
Prefer wide string spacing
Brand doesn't matter
CAN NOT HAVE BLACK PAINT

Used or New - doesn't matter as long as it's readily available

Of course I have my eye on a few models already that meet these criteria, but perhaps the TB Hivemind knows of some options that I'm not considering!
I use a PV foundation 5 (passive) as my backup. I like no battery. It's pretty decent at covering anything ... Not pricey

One criteria I forgot to add:

No high-gloss paint!

I know it's kinda nit-picky, but if I'm covered in sweat and beer onstage, the last thing I want is my shiny-ass bass getting oily smear marks on it and becoming super noticeable in the stage lights. BIG pet peeve of mine, hate it when other bands do this. Honestly it's one of the few factors preventing me from pulling the trigger on the Squier.

Will edit original post to reflect this.

Thanks to everyone who's commented so far! If anyone has suggestions on basses to avoid as well, I'm all ears.

Not sure what/why youre asking TBs opinion(s) when you already have your eye on not only one but a few models that meet your criteria ! Just pick the one that comes closest to your main ax!

Get a used Ibanez ATK 800 series or 1200 series. Versatile. You might not like the string height but still a good guitar.

Otherwise a Yam and Cort are all good ones for way less than your budget.

Fernandes is really good. Underrated for sure. The one made in jazz bass made in Japan is truly excellent.

Hmmm... Haven't looked into the Millenium series. Any specific model years to look for / avoid?
Just make sure they are the USA made versions. Easy to determine. The majority have a jazz pup in the neck and a MM in the bridge, with the active Cirrus electronics. Bolt on, 18v electronics.

not my pic, borrowed...

I'll join the folks that suggested another of what you've got.
If you're happy with that, and it sounds like you are, and all you want is a back-up bass you can pick up and play with minimum fuss in the stressful situation of your main failing at a gig,
another 505 is surely the right answer.

You can pick up a used Spector Legend Classic 5 for about $400. I have one as a backup and it's very good. If you want, drop an Agular preamp in for about $200 and you can make it your main bass.
