Recording a Breedlove Bass Inquiry

Hi,
I got a Breedlove Studio bass from The Perfect Bass earlier in the year. I am goings to be recording two Alice in Chains acoustic covers this weekend. What would be a good approach to recording this bass? I was going to....

1 Use a Sansamp Paradriver into a Hartke HA2500 with a Transporter 210 and I was also going to mic up at the 12th fret with a halfway decent AKG mic.
2 I was thinking of trying this same setup but without the Sansamp.
3 was maybe going to try to go direct using the Ampeg SVX with being mic'd up

I would start with a dry track (BASS->CLEAN DI->RECORDER) and also a mic track (assuming you have already experimented with mic placement) and record them both at the same time. Once you have those tracks I would re-amp the DI track into the Sansamp/Power amp/2x10 cab setup and mic the cab (to re-amp means to play back the original recorded track, routing it to an output on your recording interface, running that output to a miked amp and recording that signal onto a new track*). This method allows you to record as many tracks as you want using different EQ and overdrive settings and blend any number of those tracks to taste.

Re-amping is addicting and can lead you down a rabbit hole chasing the mythical "perfect tone" so try not to get carried away. You still have to make some decisions and get the job done.

*Note: re-amping requires a box to convert the line level/low impedance output from your DAW Recording Interface to an instrument level/high impedance signal. ART, Radial, LittleLabs, and others make these boxes.
