Red Sparowes

Voices of Omens is one of very few new albums the last year or two to completely blow me away (probably only Mammatus - The Coast Explodes and Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum have come close). It is like Acid Bath through the eyes of Isis. Wonderfully frightening stuff. Mr. Pickles if I ever finish that mix CD-R for you I'll include something from this album. :D

I still need to check out Red Sparrowes, as foolishly I have not.

Yo guys...

I saw and recorded a Red Sparowes / Russian Circles show last March here in Santa Cruz - heavy and melodic, good stuff.

Good to see Mammatus getting the nod as well - these guys are acquaintences of mine, and I just saw a show in SF last Saturday. Their new album is still in progress but they have been rocking out the new material for the last 6 months. Check 'em out on myspace - new material isn't there yet....

I'm a big psych rock fan so Mammatus is a band I dig. Good to hear they are working on a new album. My local psych rock band Earthless has been getting a lot of good buzz. They kill live if you get a chance to see them.

Indeed. I recorded the Witch/Earthless/Assemblehead show at the haunted Brookdale Lodge a few weeks ago.

I've always dug Earthless, they share a label with Assemblehead (personal friends of mine).

I'm really liking Mammatus' new stuff - and really good dudes to boot. Highly recommend checking out a show if you get a chance. They are playing weekly here around SF and Santa Cruz.

just thought I'd throw this out there, if you like post-rock type stuff like what's being talked about in this thread you might wanna check out

www.afterthepostrock.com

it's an AWESOME forum about this kind of music with a lot of activity and interesting people, plus lots of extras that you'll just have to go and check out for yourself.

(It's not my board, nor a friend's, etc, etc... just a great place for info on this stuff)

It's been a bit of a graveyard lately...
