Just a little ;) But I can't think of a situation I've been in where tubes haven't helped me. I think even hybrid amps with a single tube benefit from it. Not quite to the level of what happens with the REDDI or an SVT but I like it better than without them.

Hi All,

As a long time user of the REDDI with various preamps, I can tell you that I like it best with the Pacifica or the P-1. With my basses, that is a perfect combination. The pedals have to go in the front end for my taste. I've found that putting a high impedance pedal in the middle of the low impedance chain doesn't to work so well for me.

On the flipside, the Ventura (deserving of its own thread) is an ridiculous pre for bass. I've been using it for the past 10 months with electric bass as well as upright and electric upright. Carl Johnson is a genius and as far as I'm concerned, he spun gold out of silk.

I begged Dave Pearlman to make a FET 47 and he was nice enough to whip one up. The Ventura and the FET47 are ideally suited for my upright along with my Fishman setup into the REDDI. WIth the EU, I've been using the Ventura on the road with the provided instrument in. I'm happy, the FOH is happy, and the recording truck is happy. That speaks volumes for me because none of us are ever happy. :) Just my two cents...

Well thank you Reggie for chiming in.
Actually, tomorrow I'm going to a friend's studio (very good one), where we're going to try my bass through REDDI and to several preamps, such as the Pacifica, API, Millennia and others!
So I'll give some feedback on my experience with that, and hopefully get a couple of recording gigs... :bassist:

Dang, Reggie...got a guy to make you a FET 47...nice clout! Would love to hear you rock that rig through a nice PA. Got anything in Florida upcoming, preferably near Orlando?

That is, if I get to go before my trip to US. I know I said Friday, but now it seems like I won't be able to make it in time.

Yeah I use that exact setup at home, I have an LA610 on long-term loan from a friend. It sounds great for sure but it depends on personal preference. It'll depend on your bass too but I prefer API (probably EM series would be as good or better, though I've never tried). For vocals the LA610 rules.

Guys please watch this!!!! It's in spanish, but if you scroll to the play part you'll hear the delightful TONE of this master Pedro Aznar! He played with Pat Metheny for a while (he's actually the original voice in "Have You Heard") and tons of other artists, plus having a huge repertoire of his own.

!

I don't know if he's using REDDI or not, but that's the definitely something to aim for.

Thanks! The name of the artist is Vinni. He's a Norwegian rapper. The show is called Senkveld, and it's on Tv2. We're playing a show in Oslo tonight, and they're also doing a live stream of the concert online. You're right, I don't know if you can see it if you're outside of Norway.

I'll stop boring you with pics now, but this is from our soundcheck today. Just wanted to show the beautiful Reddi in yet another environment. :D

Thank you for asking! My main bass for this project is actually the '78 Guild B-301. A fantastic-sounding instrument! It says something that my '63 P-bass is a spare:) I've strung them both with rounds for this setting.

My pedalboard is:
Korg Pitchblack
Boss NS-2(Noise suppressor)
Boss CS-2(as an effect on a few songs with the attack on max)
Darkglass B7K(set up as a very mild overdrive)
Onkart Gromt Grombass(full gain for a fuzzy/synth-y sound. It gets a bit noisy in some rooms because of the high gain, so that's why I have the NS-2 in the chain.

Next comes the amazing Reddi, and the through goes to a Mesa D-180 into a Warwick Hellborg Club cab and Lo cab(both 1x15").

I'm extremely happy with this setup, and so are all the sound guys I work with:hyper:

I found this Youtube video today. It is the BAC 500 Compressor by A-Design... I use one with the EM500 pre..
More great stuff..

I know this is the REDDI thread but I may have to also make an A-Design master thread for all their gear to include the Ventura Preamp, BAC Compressor and the other Pete's Place gear etc....
