REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

No.. No i havent..But others have... But that stuff is FAT sounding ... I bet it would just be HUGE..
I have used the A-Design EM500 Gold preamp and BAC500 Comp into a power amp on some gigs.. Sounded great. Huge, fast and no EQ. totally Flat... just the tine controls on my bass

Have you tried the Electrodyne as a bass pre in front of the Reddi?

OK, so I finally got a good dose of REDDI tone from the gig last night, where our band opened up of Lita Ford. The house had a great system, and the sound engineer was happy to plug into the red box. What a ripping deep sound, that made me proud to be up there belting it out.

The best DI for Metal......

Sorry...did not see the powering down question before...nope, I don't get any of that. Wouldn't worry about it if you get it, though...just unplug the mic cable before you power down.

I have a couple fly dates coming up doing openers with Paul Rogers band. I got a small rack that my ready goes in and I'm using the mesa walkabout to power an 810 It going to be the best of both worlds.

Wow, that is going to sound amazing, for sure!! Do you bring the rack as a carry-on, or do you send it as baggage? Would be very cool to see a pic! I sometimes bring my Reddi onboard, and sometimes ship it in my HPRC case along with my pedalboard(I wrap it in towels to keep it from bouncing around).

So the Jule Monique has been out a while. Sounds nice. Any REDDI users converted or are we still on the "bandwagon" so to speak.

I listened to some samples of the Monique and REDDI on there site. Pretty close to me. As most of my playing is IEM/PA these days, I'm thinking the REDDI would be a better - and cheaper - purchase.

I currently use this

with Westone UM-2's and it works pretty well, but have toyed with the idea of a REALLY nice DI - especially if I'll notice a difference in my IEM's.

I've got both. Started with the REDDI, which I love. Monique's DI is also excellent. The downside is it sends the "post EQ" signal. I played a big, boomy venue Friday that required significant rolloff in the bass, and that was also the signal that went from the DI into my Zoom H6 recorder. I would have preferred a totally flat signal, but that's the way it goes. Usually my venues take flatter EQ. I'll continue using both for a while but will likely end up selling one. If I had to choose today, I'd probably sell the REDDI because Monique does 2-in-1 (amp signal as well as DI). However Monique is a lot bulkier and heavier, so that's a negative trade off (I have the rack version).

Thanks for the comments. I guess I'm thinking of (possibly) spending a lot on a DI for my non-paying church gig is that we do use IEM's and many say that the difference is very noticeable in that situation. We are also remodeling/adding on to the church and our already decent PA will receive an upgrade so the difference may be noticeable as well.

There is one jazz trio I fill in for once in a while that doesn't use IEM's, but they play mostly background music type gigs and my little Genz Benz rig is fine for that.

I have found that the REDDI is nearly indestructible and tonally fits in a mix better than anything i have played. And i have used some very $$$$$$$ boxes.
Grammy engineers and FOH rule in favor of the REDDI every time. Its a no hassle, Big tone every time. So good i have two now. One for home and the other to travel..
I could play around and mess with stuff. And i do.. but when it comes down to business time.. I use the REDDI. I lost preamp and DI GAS after getting mine about 6 or 7 years ago..
Its not that other stuff doesnt work.. It does.. But I feel it has been my secret weapon.. Not so much anymore , because each time i use it on a gig of a session the FOH or engineer gets one... Ughhhhh I should have painted it Black and kept it a bag..
You asked so im telling...
