How dirty do folks usually go with the dirty track? I'm just experimenting on my own here, no real experience with it. Just relying on my ears...
I could imagine dialing the gain back a bit so it just crunches on the attack of the note and then cleans up as the note sustains... I'll have to try that on the next project. On this one, I wanted more dirt than that to contrast with the pristine/classical quality of the music. When the bass takes the melody in the middle, the dirt comes through pretty nicely and makes it sound MIGHTY...
Yeah, that's how I look at it, too. I love super dirt in the right places. I also rarely do blends, and never with plan overdrive. My Team Awesome Fuzz Machine has a blend and I'll mix a little bit of clean in with it, but I find it takes away from the intensity.One person's concept of excellent dirt can make another person break out the washcloth. This one's a matter of taste - not that I like eating dirt or anything like that. Now fuzz is something I could chomp on all day.
