REDDI Tube DI Mega-thread-III

I have the Tuki bag as well. I paid a little extra, and got an exterior pouch added on to hold the power cable. Very happy with it.
Reddi and Phantom power?
Yesterday I played a show at a BBQ joint which uses a BOSE PA system. The sound guy does HUGE shows and said hed rather use my amps DI than the Reddi. He said that sometimes the Phantom power reacts with the Reddi? We ended up using the MEsa Prodigy pre eq (my choice) to run the sound.
Not sure if you have had issues and want your take. He asked me and I said I don't know. He said he'd rather not chance it....

Phantom power doesn't hurt it, and the only problem I've ever had is with certain tube amps under certain conditions where the house sounds fine but my amp will have a little extra noise. In those cases, an outboard pin 1 lifter such as the Whirlwind Lifter gets rid of it. But I know for a fact that some boards we use have phantom on universally, and it's never been a problem.
My rig at Joe's Live in Rosemont, IL tonight... Mesa Subway amp and cabs, REDDI direct box, Mike Lull P4. I have a 3rd Subway cab that I didn't bring on this trip.

So I tried to read through all of this thread, but just couldn't last.
I am currently saving (and selling off pedals) to fund a REDDI as well as a Bass Station II. I appreciate all the comments here, it's helped steer me to get one.
I have a couple questions. Will it break up more of it is fed a hotter signal? Or more specifically, if I play hard or softer does it affect the sound at all? I only ask because I tend to play more aggressively and all the clips and videos I found so far they are playing super soft or softer than I'd play. And it seems to be that it makes it more subtle, when I really want to see someone digging in like crazy and zero g if it 'pushes' it a little.
That's actually pretty much my only question/concern. Can't wait to get one for myself.

Naturally it responds to dynamics, but no, you can play as hard as you want to and crank the gain knob up to the Bejeezus Belt and it's not going to break up like a tube amp. The device you plug it into will break up long before the REDDI will. Now feeding a super hot signal into it will probably cause it to overload, but it would have to be a ridonkulously hot signal.

Really? Fatter? Do you still think so?
I'm on the lookout for a nice DI for recording at home. I've not played any in person but I like the REDDI, Noble, and P-15.
On a side note, @JimmyM, can you comment on the transformer out PF-50T vs REDDI?

Both are pretty equal in my eyes. Set the PF-50T with knobs at noon and they sound deadly close.

To be honest, I think so...
There are a lot of DIs out there but to my ears nothing is fatter then the REDDI.

I read every bit the the REDDI mega threads for the last few days and your input means a bunch.
I'd like to try a REDDI soon but I'm leaning toward the PF-50T because it's actually an amp as well, which may serve my needs better. But only if the DI tone is on par with REDDI. Otherwise, it's get a REDDI and figure out an amp later...

YUP... Many contenders but only one real winner every time... Everyone compares their concoction to the one proven champion..
People can go thru this thread and read some of my discoveries.. I spent huge amounts of money until i figured it out about 10 -11 years ago.
The REDDI is more than just hearing. It's a FEEL thing.. that can not be duplicated

I have read that too. The Noble has tone controls and they are boost only, so if one was to do a comparison with knobs at noon, its possible the Noble would sound fatter but that would be "cheating".

Is either noisier/quieter than the other (hiss, etc)? I have an LPF, but it can't do anything about hiss generated downstream.
Didn't seem that way to me. Sure, if you boost frequencies, you'll also boost their noise floor, but both are sufficiently quiet enough for me to use interchangeably.

Thanks. I'm still looking at the PF50t along with a bunch of others that are not all tube. Sometimes the shopping is more fun than the having, so I'm taking it slow.

Not having knobs for me to **** things up with is what I love so much about the REDDI.
