Remaining G&L Empress Basses

Greg I don't suppose you have been weighing these empress basses? Do they feel noticeably lighter than an alder bass?

Good gosh, yes! IIRC the green LB-100 was 7.5 lbs. An Ash or Alder one usually comes in just north of 9 lbs. So I'm comfortable predicting a 1-2 pound savings if you go with Empress over Ash or Alder...

I can vouch for the weight difference.

I ordered an LB-100 last year, I asked it to be close to 8.5 pounds, after a 4 month wait, the bass arrived at 9.3 pounds.

When these Empress bodied G&Ls came to my attention, I jumped at the chance to get a lighter weight P bass. Greg's availed me to get into this buy, so I did. It is my 7.5 pound bass that he speaks of.

I've fallen behind on posting photos, but I'm trying to catch up! Here's the green LB-100 that arrived last week, and there will be a couple/few more this afternoon.

Greg told me the JB-2 came in at 7.15 lbs. For those of us who value light weight, the empress wood coupled with G&L quality and affordability is surely a Triple Crown. I've been told by those who know better than I that the empress sounds just fine, somewhere in-between alder and ash, so no reason to think the light weight compromises sound. And of course i must mention Greg's stellar customer service (what comes after Triple Crown??).

Crown Royal?

Noone else posted it over the weekend so I will. Here's Greg's for-stock SB2T (note the 3 knobs and side jack). Nice finish/pickguard combo! If I hadn't just done natural on my L1K this would have been high on my list.
