Renaissance/Turner Basses Club

I had two different electronics packages in the two I had ('00 RB5-FL - Highlander preamp, and '05 RB4-FL - D-Tar preamp), both mounted on the side tray with integral 9V battery clip. I don't recall either eating up batteries all that fast but I did not play them all the time given the number of basses I used to have at one time.

But for the question at hand, it would be the blue wire. No, wait!!! It's the red wire. Oh shoot, there's a green one in there, too, maybe it's that one. Now that I think about it there were a few other colored wires in there, also. Hmm............... This was never even an issue with my basses, so any of them and let us know how it works out. :smug:

Now this is a fierce pancake, isn't it? (I forget where that's from.....) So, it's off to see the wizard, I guess, and I'll let you folks know how it is resolved - I might take pictures and everything (tho' it's pretty new-fangled to a geezer such as myself).

Yerp. What I do forget, however, is to unscrew the side drawer and take out the batteries. I come back a few days later and, damn, no amplified noise. There is obviously a path to 'ground' that is allowing the little buggers to leak their electrons out - I should reexamine the circuit board and look for a high resistance (but not infinite!) path between the plus and minus terminals.

Yes, there must be something causing the drain as that would not occur when unplugged. The first place I would look at is the jack, itself.

His recent fretless basses are sort of half-fretless sidelines with dots. Like this one on Reverb a while back:

Rick Turner Renaissance 5 String Acoustic Electric Fretless Bass (RB 5-FL) Cherry Sunburst

And absolutely yes, 5-strings available, as well as 6, even seen 7, and at least one 8-string. Of course RT does custom work too, so if blank slab is your heart's desire, give him a call.

That Ren 4 Fretless was for sale on eBay for a while prior to Christmas. I thought it sold but now it is back.

I saw the Model One relisted...I'm very tempted but currently in a "more" responsible mood financially. :cautious: :unsure: :)

Thank you for the info. Yes, that purfling is nice, though side dots on the key fret positions is really all I need. I wouldn't mind having one built, but would want to see what's already out there first. ...beautiful bass!

Just bumping the thread... ordered a t-shirt today, in anticipation of the kind of weather where I can wear a t-shirt to a gig!

RT hasn't set up the site for direct merch purchases yet, but I got a call from the office first thing this morning (Pacific Time) after filling out the request yesterday evening. (Eastern Time) A quick CC transaction and within moments I got an email saying my Sun Lion shirt is on the way. :thumbsup:

Not much to report on... gigs ran out in December, and Both my January bookings were cancelled due to bad weather. :bored:

I've kinda sworn off any bass purchases this year, but there's just one more I'd like to have... the elusive Model One bass. There's been the same two bouncing around Reverb for a couple months... but I gotta' stay strong. After I pay off this little shack of mine, maybe I could just have RT custom build me one. :woot:
