Renaissance/Turner Basses Club

I got a funny backhanded compliment on my Model One last night... I took it on a birthday party gig at a Rotary Club building (in the middle of no-freakin'-where) I couldn't believe they actually had any Rotarians in this corner of Planet Earth. Anyway... it was a pretty traditional-modern bluegrass style set or two, hard drive stuff heavy on ones. I chew that stuff up with no problem and hold back on the passing notes. On the break the guitarist/bandleader/soundguy says to me; Day-um man! That's thuh best soundin' beatle-bass I ever heard!

Seriously I had a good time playing with these guys, and was kinda' returning a favor. See, I was subbing for the bass player who subbed for me while I was off after surgery a couple years ago. He's got some cardiac issues... doesn't sound good. Anyway, I was glad to help out. With my whoop-ass California beatle-bass. :chicken:

PSA - price drop. I bet this could easily be converted to a fretted Electroline. Someone should tag RT and ask, but I think this may be a first-run EL or even a prototype.

If I hadn't made another recent purchase, this one would be on the way to Virginia now.

I was buying this Electroline from Bunny B in May of 2019 when his neighbor swooped in a purchased it. That is who is selling it now. I've been keeping an eye on this listing as I've been looking for a fretless piezo Electroline 4 string for quite a few years. I should probably just buy it but it's been listed for quite a bit more than the price in 2019. Still is.

I've also been thinking about having RT's shop make a fretless neck for my fretted Electroline PMM 4 string.

I am looking for verification, but it appears from the postings I'm seeing that sadly, Rick Turner has died.

I've been a huge fan of Rick's work for years... this is a tremendous loss to the world of luthiery at large. Rest in Eternal Peace, RT. Thanks for all your work.
