Request - ease up on the Sire advocacy

True enough. And one of the several reasons why is the name on the headstock.

Do not downplay the value of name recognition, cachet, and claims of mojo. Because Fender certainly doesn't. They use it. And so does every other bass maker that has any. :cool:

And BTW, when you say that the fact they function is not the point, there are many who would disagree with you very strongly about that. Including, I'd suspect, Leo Fender himself.

Functional was what it was all about when it came to the design of his instruments. He put function, ease of manufacturing, and ease of repair on equal footing with sound quality. Those goals are not mutually exclusive. You can have an inexpensive and simple instrument that sounds incredible. As the Strat, Tele, and Jazz and Precision basses have repeatedly demonstrated.

Just had to go look at it, it actually says that,"SIRE basses are not OEM production by a third party which is actually the case for major companies. Contrary to that, all SIRE basses are “in-house” production." I can't find anywhere that it says they don't buy parts from other companies.

Just food for thought. If Sire is on par quality wise, why does Marcus Miller still use his Fender. He is obviously endorsing Sire.

Okay, well that settles that then. No prob with my tuners even now that I know they're made in a different factory.

Fair point! "Minimalism" is wide-open for interpretation and personal tastes. For example, when I think of conveying artistry using clean, efficient and minimal line-work, here's the vibe I get…

I don't think any of us talking about a Sire here will convince you sir so I think I'm done trying but if you ever get the chance to play one Id go for it. Ynever know, you might really like it. If you do, join us in the Sire Bass Club. Will it blow your mind? Maybe, idk. Fender (my main bass actually) makes some great instruments and American Fenders have great features, Sire too has great features that sometimes Fenders don't have yet come in at a quarter of the price. That is the reason for the hype. Nice chatting with you sir, have a good afternoon!

What it is, is pretty much the best production j-style bass on the market under $1,000. And comparable to basses in the $1500 range. For $400-$600. That is what it is.

It IS damn good, period, and DAMN good for the price. Is that not enough for some people?

But, of course, you can't argue with the person who has never been in a room with one, but knows all about it. I laugh a little that the new line of criticism is pretty much "well, it doesn't walk on water like some people seem to think, so it blows".

the key word is standby.."hey roadie, grab me that piece of crap Siri or whatever its called and throw it on stage so the fanboys from TB feel like they got a high end bass that i "play alot" for cheap"..."ya ya i know the attention to detail isnt there, the bridge is crooked, the tuner pegs are 18 degrees off location, just dont put stage lights directly on it"

Unbunch your drawers. It was a rib. I love my Squiers, my MIM Fender. MIA and if I had a Sire, I'd love it too.

Actually went through lots of pics and didnt notice that. I even checked mine and didnt see it
