I'm guilty of the "try X" suggestions. Every now and then someone says, "Thanks, I hadn't thought of that". So think about it or ignore me. Easy choice.

Same with Sire basses. They are popular and a great bass for the money so they will always be talked about and recommended.

There are a lot of 1 make fans here and why not?

Read the OP the other day, and agreed. Put up a post... then decided to delete it since I really know nothing about Sire basses. DID say that they do absolutely nothing for me. Then read some more as people posted cuz once I responded, I was subscribed to the thread. 2 days later, I'm gassing for a Sire. OP, you suck .

And this is a good reminder that even bad publicity is good publicity.

I just think it's crazy, all the hype about these things!

Haven't tried one yet but the bridge and tuners look very cheap. Couldn't they have just went the extra mile and put Gotoh hardware on these things?

I don't own a sire but I find the hype fascinating on a psychological level. I find it especially amusing when in a thread about something else and someone jumps in and says SIRE!

A friend of mine is getting one so I'll be able to try it out. Looking forward to that

I think we should all just wait and see if Sire can sustain their reputation and economic viability for more than a year before we solidify their place in bass history alongside other manufacturers that have either set the bar or proven their worthiness over time.

I would love to play one but who knows if I'll ever get to see one in person?

Maybe it's just that I haven't had enough coffee yet today, or maybe it's that I'm getting grouchy as I get older; but the ire in this thread just kills me. I mean, it's just a few people's opinion on a bass made by a relatively new company in the bass making world. Sire basses suck. Sire basses are killer. They beat MIA Fenders with ease. They can't possibly be as good as a MIA bass - and on and on and on...... Who cares about other people's opinions? Opinions aren't quantifiable anyways!

Some folks bought one and feel that they got a nice bass for a reasonable price. Some bought one, and it wasn't what they had hoped it would be. I feel like those 2 groups probably have more insight on how the basses are in regards to quality, sound, and playability.

Other people have speculated on how good they could (or couldn't) be, but have never owned or played one. I suppose they are certainly entitled to their unfounded opinion as well. An active Jazz (yes I know you can also play the Sires in passive) with binding and inlays and lots o' knobs isn't for everyone, myself included. So, I guess not wanting one puts me in a minority here ☺
