So I came across this when aimlessly browsing the net one night, for those that can't wait forever:
Model T O)) 150W tube amp kit
An exact clone of the first generation SUNN 0)) Model T amplifier. This needs no introduction! The originals cost more than €5,000 in Reverb...en.uraltone.com
...and when you receive this... please review and possibly a demo.
Yes I know you didn't say you ordered one. Yet.
I have never built a valve amp yet, but who knows what will happen in the future.
The closest I have come to a Model T is a preamp pedal I did a layout for, but it can be made into several different amp pedals changing a few components.
I still haven't completed the Beta Amps I started years ago.
I have drifted into tube pedals now thanks to Sushibox FX and his C2CE PCB's he sells for tube pedals, and that's what made me try a tube pedal design mirroring the way he does it.
I just have to sit down and get that soldering iron hot.

They got their instruments strapped so high they are in risk of being choked.

I was speaking in general about a lot of this sort of thing, not necessarily sunn in particular.

I may have said this before that Sunn occupied a large section of my playing in my youth. Various models including all the Beta stuff and all that preceded it. I thought the stuff right before it, when they did the separate pre and power amps was good and useful it was just okay, nothing special. It allowed me to experiment with bi-amping.
There would be no reason under the Sunn
for me to pay anything like that for all that it is, vintage or not. I was not someone who went for the overdrive MOSFET sound. Maybe that is a thing for some but I think there are cheaper alternatives to get that.
If that's your thing, don't let me stop you. But there was a reason these things sold cheaply in the used market back in there day. It was a head scratcher to me when I saw these being brought back from the dead.
I could understand the tube offerings a little more. Was a bit disappointed they didn't bring back a proper 200S bottom.

I miss my old Sunn 215b. And they pop up for sale sometimes, just like 200s cabs.
But I have no use at all for them, can’t even really get up to carting my Sunn 115 clone cabs out to my studio, tho tempted to see if they still do the thing I recall.
D140s will always be my favorite 15, and by whatever voodoo or luck the just work in those Sunn “shelf port” cabs.

I like the Mesa SW 15s, I have a single.
To my ear but lack of a way to a/b them other than my faulty memory but there is a quality to the SWs that reminds me of the Sunn cabinet that I like.
