reverend P pickups -- $18!

So for you Rumblefish PJ owners, what pot and cap did Reverend use for your tone control? Does the tone control work well when the P pickup is soloed or do you think you might prefer a different combo?

I'm hoping to order pots, caps & jacks to update a couple of basses soon. Anyone have a favorite source for quality parts cheap.

BTW: Reverend turned my order around pretty quickly.

Thanks,
S

As someone said before me, this is a stupid good deal.

I installed these pickups (10k) and all I can say is "Wow". It's such an awesome deal and way to better your tone. I am not even going to bother installing the 8.7s to try out, I am so pleased with the 10.

I think it's more of an issue with the actual bass than the pickups, but I am having difficulties getting a normal ammount of output? Do I just need to raise the pickups/lower the strings?

FWIW:

you might still want to try the 8.7K, cause they are different.

Yeh basically raise the pups. You should be able to tell just by looking, if you're 1/4" or so away you can go up. If their pretty close they may be too close, which can drop output. Usually you get distortion if that's the case.

Swapping the leads probably won't make any difference but you could check that out, or call Rev to verify hot (which actually could have been wired backwards anyway so wouldn't hurt to swap). P pups are pretty basic but some pups are particular.

Strings should be where you want them. Altering height will alter intonation (which is probably off anyway). But if the bass has been setup properly and you like it, adjust pup height.

Altering pole to string spacing will alter tone. Maybe more to you're liking, maybe not, or you might not be able to tell tell difference.
