RIP Ozzy

The amazing thing is, given his lifestyle, how long he lasted, and the sheer quantity of music he produced over a lifetime. The Universe plays cruel jokes sometimes, guys like Keith Richards can abuse every drug imaginable for decades and still function, and seemingly healthy, sober people die young. He sure as hell got his money's worth out of life though, didn't he? I can't honestly say I was a Sabbath fan, but there's no doubt he left a huge mark on music.

Ozzy and my grandmother are indelibly linked. Both gone. My grandmother, who loved her grandson so much she decided to buy the album he had asked for. She took me to Sears, to the "music department" ( which had some albums... but it was Sears :) ) She walked up to the counter person and boldly asked if they had Diarrhea of a Madman.

Thank you Ozzy for spawning a moment at once so horrific and altogether so funny.

Take that well deserved rest good man.

They just don't make them like they used to. Read his autobiography: sniffing industrial chemicals, slaughtering animals to get cash to get drunk, then constantly being wasted and stoned through creating some of the greatest music ever while being screwed by management and stone cold broke. Him and Lemmy were products of their time, never to be repeated.

I was 11 years old when Black Sabbath's debut album was released and when we first heard it, my friends and I felt like it was music made specifically for us, at our age, what we wanted. Led Zepplelin, Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper all did that for me at that age.
I've never tired of hearing the music of the holy trinity and I will enjoy their music into my last days.
Very happy for Ozzy that he could get back on stage with his three friends and do what has made them happy for all these years.
I'm sure it was good for all four of them, and what a great experience for them to share the show with so many great musicians they inspired. The best ending Ozzy could have hoped for.

Also great to find out that Alice and his three living bandmates are going to perform together again soon.

A little bit over the shock of it finally. The timing is absolutely crazy if you think about it. I truly believe he wanted to go out on stage doing what he loved (and basically he did) but, imagine if the Black Sabbath concert was a couple weeks later than it was. The outpouring of condolences on social media the last few hours is amazing and nonstop. I never got to see him live but his music has always been a part of my life from my early teen years in high school. The world lost an iconic ambassador of music today but his legacy and legend will live on forever. RIP Ozzy...
