Rock band with saxophone

Sax is a decidedly jazz instrument and just does not really do rock well. Try finding a sax player who can do rhythm - like 50's rock - otherwise you might find yourself regretting the move.

Stones - Sticky fingers - songs wrecked with hackneyed sax solos. If I got to remix Brown Sugar - sax solos out. Richards rhythm guitar is so good and then along comes that sax.

Springsteen - that is a distraction. Always thought the sax was detrimental to his music.

Be careful it might become a huge regret if the player doesn't know how to stand around 50-75% of the time doing nothing. Very few saxophonists know how to play rhythm well and come out of a jazz school.

Oh, now I get it...the Stones hired Bobby Keys for decades(and then took on a player versed in his style upon his passing)just to make Keith look good.

Bringing a sax into your band? Guitarist all set to lose solo time. And when the sax solos - wild horses - go Latin- or jazzy - cause it rarely rocks

Keith’s guitar part blows away Keys bombast - no accounting for taste - eh

So the Stones would not have a hit without Keys? Bowie, Doors, etc.,.?

Op asked- touch me babe doors - that is a rocky solo - it’s ok - but in general it don’t rock when sax is added.

I gave him my opinion - i see you are bravely defending the band wagon position - hope you pass the audition

Yes, poor guitar players, there just haven’t been enough guitar solos, ever; just a drought. Never enough chances for Keith to recycle Chuck Berry licks. Damn that Brian Jones with his recorder stepping all over him on “Ruby Tuesday”.

Ruby Tuesday sucks as does that recorder solo. And Berry invented that sound - ie rock.
If you want hackneyed - 95% of rock sax solos.
