Roscoe Basses (not Fender)

I layed tracks at a high end studio in my area - all the engineer kept saying throughout the session is "that's the best sounding bass I've ever recorded".

In my mind, there's none better in this price range.
And I've played just about everything...

I own a Roscoe SKB3006 and IMO Roscoe's rank up there amongst the finest basses available, and their customer service is second to none. The tones I can dial out of my Roscoe fit into all the different styles of music I play: Funk/R&B, classic rock, modern rock, electric folk, classic country, and modern country.

To my knowledge Roscoe offers three different onboard EQ systems (Aguilar, Bartolini, & Demeter) so with Gard's assistance, they can build you a bass that will best suit your needs.

I think if you end up buying a Roscoe, you won't be disappointed.

Here's my 3006. The only reason i'm not getting another roscoe when i order my 6s is that he doesn't make 33 inch scales. Otherwise i'd own two more of these.

a year ago, i would have started on a huge tirade on my not-so good experience, but after knowing that Gard is on the job, and after having played a righteous SKB3006 from the Gard era, rozzies are no doubt on my GAS list.

IMO they're the best out there. And yeah, I'm a bit prejudice. I currently have 2 SKB 3005's and without a doubt the last one that I had made is THE BEST playing and sounding bass I've ever touched! Not to mention the finest quality this old boy's ever laid eyes on!
Give Gard a call and he'll help you spec out one that'll knock your socks off! If you need a good dealer, give Jay a call @ Blueberry Hill Bass. He'll definitely treat you right!

I personally love Roscoe basses and own a 2003 fretted SKB-3006 and a 2005 fretless SKB-3005.

I just deleted a long winded post about my history with Roscoe Basses. After reading it, I realized that all I needed to say was that I am fortunate to be able to afford what ever bass I want (maybe with the exception of some Alembics and Ritters). For me, the Roscoes are the best bass made. I desire no other brand of bass guitar. To be honest, I haven't had the opportunity to play a Nordstrand, Staumbach, Benevente or a couple others I can't think of right now. I have tried MTD, Fodera, Modulus, Zon, Pedula, Waal, Warwick, Elrick, Sadowsky and a few others I can't remember.

There are others who don't agree with me. But I love picking up either of my two Roscoes and playing all night long.

BTW: I've tried Alembics and Ritters and don't like them anyway.

I just picked up a used LG3005 a few weeks ago. It is around five years old, which is pre-Gard. However, it is still rediculous sounding and great to play. I can't recommend any bass more than a Roscoe. I have a Modulus Q5 that I love and will never part with but the Roscoe is right there beside it. If I were to buy a new bass it would be a Roscoe. I ordered a new Pedulla about 4 months ago and it was great. However as soon as I heard the Roscoe I immediately sold the Pedulla and I don't regret it a bit.

I too have had the chance to play almost every brand out there and the Roscoe wins every time.

I have owned 2 LG 3005s and they both were amazing basses. The 35" scale killed me or I'd still own them. The tone is unmatched IMHO and I've tried hard to find something that does sound like a Roscoe. Keith is a wonderful man to deal with and I met Gard once at Bass Central and he is a stand up guy as well and one of the most knowledgeable guys I've ever met. If I was indepedantley wealthy I'd have Keith build me a 34" scale but alas my kids have to come first. Buy one, you won't be sorry!!!
