I use DR long necks. They fit like they were made for the bass. Sound great too, and have nice life span. It's all I buy these days.

Yeah, a couple weeks ago I got a set of long necks and they are perfect.

This is mine, it sounds great. The only thing I wonder is why the poles of the pickups are black colour??? First I thought it was something wrong with the pickups, or something fake, after pluging in I bought the bass. It sound very good.
Can you guess what happened?

pd perhaps the old owner paint them with a marker or something

There seems to be a bit of rust on the pick up height adjustment screws so I reckon that there is probably some on the poles too and the previous owner has covered it up with marker pen as you suggest. If it all sounds good it's not a problem.

Are the pickups different on 5 string and 4 strings?
It seems the bridge pickup is larger than the neck pickup in the 5
The 4 string bass has equal pups

Hey People! I can't have # yet, But I have a LPB/maple RB IV on order. I had a RB V a few years ago but had to let it go, the heel of the neck had bowed up. But, Now I'm back in the game!

As far as I know, it has been discontinued. Not shown on Fender's website.

I ordered mine thru Musicians Friend, I asked the rep while on the phone and they said it was a rumor. The Day before I found three RBIV's at a local shop and they said that was the last three they could get. I'm befuzzled?!?

Last time i talked to Roscoe, he said that they yes he had the bad news from fender, so they are discontinued.

That is sad. I have my two, and RB IV & V so I'm set, but it certainly one of the finest basses Fender ever made with tone for days!!!!!

I have an audition coming up, and I was trying to decide which bass I should play. I've been playing my FrankenRelic alot lately, and my Warwick Fortress Masterman has never let me down, but none of them seemed right. Then I remembered my Trusty RB IV!

I know I don't play it much because it is still Near Mint, but it is the SWEETEST playing bass I've ever played. I need a Beater RB IV...

Actually ended up finding a much better deal on a RB IV from Glenn at Bass Specialties. Gotta give high marks to Glenn there at BS, he was very cooperative, even weighed the bass for me while on the phone.
I got one gig under my belt with my new RB IV. As far as I'm concerned this bass, is custom shop quality. 8.75lbs, plays great. don't wanna say never, but I can't see ever letting this bass go.

They are great live, and in the studio, but I wish the volume knob was an inch or two South. I bump into it when I'm rocking too hard.

I let two RBIV go before landing my third. It isn't going anywhere soon I can tell you. Slow learner I guess. I would love to find one with a maple board. That LPB is gorgeous.

Very true. I wonder if Roscoe will ever have another signature bass. I see that Stu Hamm is doing something with Washburn after the demise of the Fender SH maybe Roscoe will do the same with some manufacturer and we can get this really going again. Mind you he'd have to stop touring first.

I'd doubt it, he's still a Fender artist, and I've seen a recent interview with him where he said "my late, great signature Fender, which they no longer make, much to my dismay. I love the bass anyway, and I still wouldn't play anything else."



From the sounds of it, he's hoping for a reissue.
