Roscoe Club

So I hate to be negative but I am going to post my most recent experience. I posted before, which I know some of you saw that it took about three years to get my order from Roscoe. I want to say that I had two previous orders for a P bass and J bass and was very happy. I decide to order the PJ and pay extra for the finish. I was told multiple times that it was almost ready, "just a few more weeks and heard nothing. In one case a whole year went by with no answers to my emails.

I finally got it as you see picture here. It looks great, feels good and sounds good but the input had a short and the pots were dirty and were cutting out. I did not want to send it back or quite honestly deal with it anymore. I paid $107 to get it fixed and cleaned up and just be done with it. While my previous experiences were great, the last one did not go according to plan. I get that there was problems with a pandemic but I had a Valenti and Bluesman Vintage custom build without any of the program.s

Some left some snide comments to my original post. I even got a couple of PMs about those negative comments. I am simply posting here since it's a Roscoe group. Hopefully, others don't have the same experience that I did.

I couldn’t imagine waiting 3 years for a bass build. Especially with gaps of a year or so without any communication. I don’t blame you for not sending it back for the electrical repairs. Shipping would cost more than what you paid to have it repaired.I will say that I suspect that Keith will reimburse you the funds though. I’d go ahead and send a text or email explaining the issue and repair cost. At this point what do you have to lose?

But hey, that is a great looking Roscoe Classic! I love the finish and the maple neck. If you experience flashbacks of the three year build experience let me know. I’d love to get that bass!

I really don’t like gang mentality. It doesn’t help anyone, and just shows people’s fragility. I feel that it’s really important for potential customers to hear about all experiences, and for the company itself to hear back as well so they can tighten the ship. It’s really difficult to be a small business, but it’s far more difficult if you don’t work out the kinks to be sure things like this just don’t happen. I appreciate your posting about this build. Roscoe makes amazing basses, and I hope that they can hear from you about your experience and move forward to better their process and customer service.

Totally agree Andy. Club threads should provide everyone (current owners and prospective owners) the great experiences as well as the not so great experiences. No builder or product is perfect. I’m a huge Roscoe fanboy but I don’t wear rose colored glasses either. Shame on guys that throw legitimate victims under the bus just because they had/have problems.

I'm glad you got your bass. It looks awesome. I'm glad you think it plays awesome.

I'm disappointed in Keith for sending you something that needed finishing touches. In my experience he's better than that. Excellent quality assurance is the sign of a true craftsman, and if he rushed this one out, that's not okay.

I'm a true Roscoe fan. I have been since the late 90s. The delays are forgivable, but the $107 in needed work is not.

I personally don't think you should have to put up with that crap! PM me and I'll take that piece of junk right off your hands! :D Seriously, sorry you had to go through that. It's honestly so hard to hear giving my great experiences with Keith. Great looking bass though!

I also want to say…no one is perfect. Every small builder has challenges and makes mistakes….it’s how you handle those mistakes with the customer that always matters most to me. I personally wouldn’t hesitate emailing or calling the shop to speak honestly (and respectfully) with them, and then it’s up to them to assess and decide what to do in those situations in the future.

If only there was someone in this group who was looking for a fretless Century 5... at least as of a few days ago anyways, who knows what he's GASing for now :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

It's local to me, but I'm not buying ANYTHING for awhile... this time I promise ;)
