Roscoe Club

While I was at Roscoe I saw the coolest painting. It was done by one of Keith’s customers and given to him as a gift.
I’d love to have one in my music room!

Well, I'm getting custom pickups wound for my cheap G&L JB2 and getting it wired vol/blend/tone so that should take care of my jazz bass needs. A fretless is the thing I don't have currently. It's in a cart on my phone. Just have to hit complete purchase. I can afford it. It's just that there are always so many other things I could use $2,700 for other than a bass I'll play at church a couple times a month. I should get off social media and avoid temptation. There sure isn't any locally.

Steve should just purchase both. If his wife kills him he should at least make it worthwhile!:D
You’re worse than me Joe! ;):roflmao:

As much as I’m an enabler, it’s all in good fun and I also understand this. Do think about how much joy that fretless would bring when you do play it at church. Make a joyful noise and all…

I know it's all (mostly ;)) in fun. I do it, too.

Sadly, I took it out of the cart. We got the car insurance notice and it was TRIPLE what I paid last 6 months. I did get a new (2019) Enclave but I can't see how it can be that much of an increase.

My agent says insurance business is a mess right now. She's going to get me quotes from a more local company that doesn't have the stress that my current national one does.

Roscoe USA Century VI 6-string Bass - 2012 | Reverb

It's a great bass. I've owned it 3 times, and sold it 3 times. I just couldn't justify a 6 for what I am doing now. The last time I bought it back was for "nostalgia' as it was my first Roscoe build - and in 6 weeks no less. But that seems like a dumb reason to buy a bass. My wife is fairly understanding, but if it came back a 4th time, I'd be dead or at least alone.

The quilt maple top is REALLY thick for a Standard Plus. And the wenge fingerboard has AMAZING grain to it. I don't know the seller at all, but the bass is beautiful. All it needs is a gloss coat. Wish they had that option back when I had it built.

That is a really pretty bass and tempting at that price but I have decided to be satisfied with my current trio of Roscoe basses. My fretted SKB just kills in every way. It plays beautifully and is one of the best sounding Roscoe basses I have owned. The rather heavy Mahogany body must be a contributing factor to the great tone. However, my Century 5 has a Swamp Ash body, my Century 6 fretless has a Spanish Cedar body and they sound wonderful too. Roscoe just makes great basses.

I paid $3000 for the SKB 6 and I am so glad I jumped on the deal when the ad came up. Prices keep going up, don't they? I love the tops on all my Roscoe basses.

Man, I want both of these six strings! Are we saying that the Red devil has a figured Maple top underneath? How do we know? Is there a story behind this bass that I'm not aware of?
I traded that bass in to FretSpot, and it sold pretty fast. It is a VERY nice bass, but I'm not a 6 string player, which is a shame- I'd wanted that bass for years before I finally got it... and the body is alder, according to the build sheet, and Jerry...
