Roscoe Club

If I remember correctly, Gard Lewis & Greg Bump delivered that bass to Jerry Burdick at one of our Mid-GA GTG’s. I think they even had a t-shirt made for it.

Actually Jerry brought the bass to our GTG to give it Gard so he could take it back to factory to fix the headstock finish that cracked. Gard had the t shirts made for him and Greg and they wore them to the Atlanta airport and had them on when they pick Jerry up from the airport.

I traded that bass in to FretSpot, and it sold pretty fast. It is a VERY nice bass, but I'm not a 6 string player, which is a shame- I'd wanted that bass for years before I finally got it... and the body is alder, according to the build sheet, and Jerry...
Finishing the carved Maple top in red: ". . a crime against humanity . ." Well stated, JB

Those candy bar pickups may be considered J's, but my experience with them is that they have a very different tone than their 5-string Bart counterparts, owing to the longer apertures. Those candy bars in a 6 sound amazing to my ear.

That is a really pretty bass and tempting at that price but I have decided to be satisfied with my current trio of Roscoe basses. My fretted SKB just kills in every way. It plays beautifully and is one of the best sounding Roscoe basses I have owned. The rather heavy Mahogany body must be a contributing factor to the great tone. However, my Century 5 has a Swamp Ash body, my Century 6 fretless has a Spanish Cedar body and they sound wonderful too. Roscoe just makes great basses.

I paid $3000 for the SKB 6 and I am so glad I jumped on the deal when the ad came up. Prices keep going up, don't they? I love the tops on all my Roscoe basses.

Those are beautiful basses Chuck.:)

Yes, the headstock is NOT the candy apple red the body is, more of a transparent dark red. I think there’s a maple cap on it too, definitely not the maple/purpleheart/maple of the neck…

Sigh, that was a very hard decision to trade that bass in, sad to see it for sale again already…

That being said, I “watched” it on the ‘verb and he sent me an offer right away, so guessing he’s a “motivated seller.”

It's changed hands so many times that one must ask, "why?" and seriously consider the answer(s) before deciding to be next in line to sell it.

Yeah, you gotta wonder why it hasn’t found a home. Same for my old one. It’s a fantastic bass. The fingerboard does not feel huge at all. The tone from those pickups is killer. And it looks amazing. The grain on the fingerboard and the quilt on the top. It’s insane. Maybe I should buy this back and take my chances. Although I don’t know how much I’d ply it. Who knows, maybe this time I could make it stick.

Eh, there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s great sounding and plays well, but it’s a sixer and I just never used it. I had it for over a year (and I was in no rush to get rid of it, but I got a few new fivers (and an impulse Pino, can only have so much :rollno:) this year, the guy before me had it for a few and the guy before him… this is my third time trying to own a six (dang you Patitucci and Anthony Jackson, making it look so easy ), and sadly my last.

All that being said though, that’s one of the beauties of buying used, I didn’t lose a lot on trying it out, had I gotten it new, ouch…

This is an insanely good deal. I had my time with an LG 4 banger and absolutely loved it, but have since moved to medium scale for fretted. I can't imagine a better deal for someone looking for a 34" fretted four string. Almost pains me how much this seller has had to reduce the price. (In fact I should unfollow it on Reverb).

Beautiful bass. Wish you hadn’t posted it :roflmao: Very tempting indeed. That bass would cost over $4k to build now and I don’t think he has any of that amazing waterfall bubinga left.

Yeah. I could have gone without seeing that one!:help:
I've got 3-4's and 3-5's. If I bought that one I'd have to also buy another 5'er to maintain balance!:roflmao:
