I think I know someplace I can take it. It’s an hour away. I have a friends Yamaha TRB5 I can use while I’m figuring this out.

Yeah Steve. That would be the replacement preamp. With everything epoxied into the black module it's unlikely that a technician would be able to do anything except confirm that it's in the module. What you're describing just wouldn't happen with a bad pot. Still, if there is a good tech in your area, it wouldn't hurt to let them look at it prior to ordering the preamp,It is my fretted standard plus. I used the same cable and interface with 2 other basses - my fretless century and Classic P - and they were normal.
So you’re saying I may need a new preamp?
Is this the replacement?

Keith is actually building me 34” scale Century with 17.5mm string spacing as we speak. I’ve attached a couple pics of what Keith has sent me. He started this build back in March and is getting close to being completed. Going to be super nice! Here’s the specsDoes anyone here have a 33" scale Roscoe?

Yeah I didn’t know the passive tone control was an option on Roscoe basses until Keith asked if I was interested in that option. I said sign me up!Gorgeous top and love the color! Great choice going with the active/passive with passive tone control. That's a game changer IMO
So that's where my old SKB is...I was the original owner, year 2008 I believe.I would like my Roscoe SKB 5 all passive all the time. It has Noordie PUPs, what would be the easiest/ best way to accomplish it? Dingwall ordered passive..

Steve, that's it. I would simply replace the preamp and be done. Super easy install, and problem solved for the next 10+ years. I've replaced several preamps in Roscoes and Pedullas. They go bad, then they go worse or dead. Not on my gig, haha!So you’re saying I may need a new preamp? Is this the replacement?

Did you order it with the slanted pickups? So that's where my old SKB is...I was the original owner, year 2008 I believe.
I wish I can give you an mathematically exotic answer as to why, but that's the way I bought it from 'The Lowend' shop.Did you order it with the slanted pickups?
The LG Pups were like that right?
I never understood slanting any pickup toward the bridge on the treble side.
I would be "inclined" (see what I did there) to slant the bass sides of the pick ups toward the bridge - I tend to move my plucking hand that direction a bit in an effort to make the smaller strings sound more balanced as to their beefiness.
This is a very highly spec'd Roscoe, certainly the highest specs I've ever seen. When I figure out how to access my conversations I'll be able to say when I got it (from DCR circa 2012? IIRC).So that's where my old SKB is...I was the original owner, year 2008 I believe.
