Between 140 - 208 needs a fretless slap solo..
Crash, I guess that I could borrow one of JohnnyR's fretless Roscoe's and do that but I seem to remember JohnnyR telling me (more than once) "Boy!
If I catch you slapping on one of my Roscoe fretless basses you'll wake up with a decapitated Koa Roscoe headstock in your bed!" 
Ahh... don't know about States but here the Monday after Easter is holiday as well! Traditionally we go camping! So, bass cleared customs friday afternoon then DANG! three days off! Thuesday it will travel from Milan to Sicily and then will hopefully show at my door Wednesday!

The "former Roscoe fretless" is actually a SKB sixer, serial number 5674. Ash body with an awesome Bubinga top. I call it simply "THE MWAH MONSTER". Given the opportunity, I'd have to bring that one back home.
I'd bet JOME would say the same !!!
Don't let Joe confuse you a Crash. I'd never cut the headstock off his Koa LG. But I might take one of his body parts though

I was looking for the Gardfather picture I made with the decapitated Roscoe headstock but I can't find it.
I got to play a Roscoe for the very first time ever tonight. What a joy. No clue what model or year. It has a sap purpleheart fretboard, Bart pickups and an Aggie OB 1 pre. 5 string neck thru I think. Couple of different colors of wood on the neck. Nice bass. Needed a good setup. Action was high for me, but the guy who owned seemedbto live it. I got called up to play a tune. Never played a Roscoe before. Wish I had another chance.
Hi Roscoe fans. I know that I'm late to the party, but I am interested in trying one of these beauties and thought I would post that here. I haven't figured out the differences among the different models yet, but I'm open to any offers.

Yeah, I may have gotten really lucky. It sounds absolutely amazing. And if it's a tiny bit lighter, I'm golden. I have been extremely happy with my 3 builds. The 6 is no longer with me but not without me trying to like it 3 times.
My Koa fretted 5 is amazing, and then theres the fretless. So fortunate to have these amazing instruments.

If you want something that costs less, look at the Century series which are my favorites because of the larger body.

Go to the 'Instruments' link and read up on all the styles (only three...) and many options.
Actually, there are three body shapes (LG, SKB, Century), and four models (Standard, Standard Plus, Custom, Signature), so 12 starting points. It's really not that hard though - figure out what general features you need: do I need a glossy finish, but not a 5 piece neck? Custom; do I just need the most basic instrument that is all ROSCOE in playability and tone, but not high gloss finish, and a 3-piece maple neck will do the trick (it's just as stable as any other neck we make -sounds a bit different though)? Standard; I must have maximum bling!?!?! Signature; I want something basic and straightforward, but like a nice pretty piece of wood on top? Standard Plus.
From there, size and shape: I'm comfortable with a J or P? Century; I'm looking for something small/compact, but still balances and feels correct? LG; I'm Goldilocks (
Pacman will be by in a moment to school me) and must have it somewhere between the two? SKB. From there, if you need more detail, well, that's why I'm around - I'm a PM, e-mail, phone call, or Facebook conversation away and my job is to make sure you get exactly what you're looking for. The best combination of price/value is the Standard Plus. A great Roscoe bass that looks almost as nice as a fancy carved one. I think I actually prefer it as I own 2 of them. Gard is underselling the terms "basic" and "straightforward" as these basses are amazing. Made by the same people. in the same shop, with slightly different hardware. I would never use the term "basic" when talking about my Standard Plus Roscoes.
As far as detail, even with a Standard/Plus you get some nice options. Pickup and preamp choice, fingerboard wood, top wood for a Plus, even some finish options. And once in a while, you get a little more than you asked for. A nice surprise.
What Gard failed to mention is customer service. I am a nobody. Just a simple, middle aged guy out in the boonies who plays at church and subs once in a while. Yet, I am treated with the utmost respect and at times, patience. From my retailer (Greg at Rocket Music) to Gard at Roscoe, I never feel like I'm wasting their time or being (too much of) a bother. I'm so glad I got to meet Greg and Gard and Keith a couple years ago. Wonderful people. And who set up my fretless before it left the shop? Keith. Just like I assume he set up James Cooks' bass before it left the shop that week as well. Can't say enough, but I always try as this is the way a business should be run and feel - like a family.
Could anyone help me with an attempt at a model number on this Roscoe??
If that's a Roscoe, it's a one-of-a-kind one. My bet: not a Roscoe - sorry.
It is a Roscoe. That was for sure. Not mine though. I got a chance to play it on Saturday. Was trying to figure out what it was. Only thing I found out about it is that it had a Spalted top. Purpleheart fretboard (He called it Sap wood part of the purpleheart), Bart p'ups and an Aggie OB1 Preamp.
