Don't forget the weight of the custom made Genz-Benz wooded rack. That thing must weigh around 100 lbs! That rack probably took a whole 200 year old walnut tree to build!

I've got a couple of questions and then an opinion-
1. can you get a classic roscoe 5 string with a 34inch scale?
2. Will roscoe plek instruments that are not roscoes? And can you plek a 31inch scale roscoe?
3. Opinion- I've been gigging a B/amp for over a year now and I've loved every minute of it. It's very clear, clean, and has a quick response which I prefer. Its also the most versatile amp I've owned. But really I'm referring to the parametric eq. You can dial in anything you want. If something happened to it, I'd buy another one immediately. Of course this all is just my opinion.

Roscoe and Genzler is a great match. My bass sounds 10 times better now. The cab is like my bass, even across all registers, the array send tone all over the room. Amazing.

Now let’s discuss a Classic ....
I know. I really want one but it may be a bit yet. I waffle a bit yet between P, PJ and JJ. Also 4 or 5. I’m really a 5 string guy I think. I know the only passive 5P that would have a B string worth anything is a Roscoe. Still, I’ve never kept a P bass for long. I seem to like 2 pickup basses so I’m thinking a JJ5 with an active preamp that I can bypass, or maybe just passive and I can add a preamp pedal of my choice.
That said, I really enjoy playing my G&L JB-2 4 string. I don’t always need the B string but it’s easier to have it and not use/need it than the other way. There’s something about a simple passive 4 string as well.
You know me. I need to deliberate and change my mind a hundred times before I make a purchase. I went back and forth for months before I bought the Magellan and Bass Array this week. My first new amp in like 8 years.
I feel pretty much the same way as you do
I have a really nice old Lakland signature Joe Osborne but it has not been played much at all as it is a 4. I also don’t hang onto P’s very long
I don’t have a G&L but I played an SB2 in a store and it was a really nice bass for the money but I only play 5’s
I know that eventually I will have a Classic. Likely a JJ as PJ’s have not worked so well for me in the past
...with a second pickguard to swap in a P when you want, and can switch back to a JJ when you get tired of the P. It'd be a "two-in-one" bass.
Part 1 -- yes, but it costs more. Part 2 -- I don't think scale length matters with PLEK.

My father used to use a phrase (I later learned it was from "The Walrus and the Carpenter", by Lewis Carroll) when I was a little boy and it was time for bed...
"The time has come, the walrus said..."
...and off to bed with little G.
Well, the time has come, walrus or no, to make a pretty big announcement:
Tomorrow, October 19, 2017, will be my last day at Roscoe Guitars. I have been there for 12.5 years now, and for various reasons that I will not belabor here, it is TIME for me to move along. I enjoyed the job, and was at one time completely convinced that I would be like an old soldier and just die at my post (desk), but that time has gone, and I must be moving on.
Where? Well, the physical "where" is simple: Fuquay-Varina, NC. The metaphysical/metaphorical "where" is less so - I honestly don't know. I'm doing the whole "I want to be THERE, and I will sort the details out once I am!" thing about this. I am fortunate, and grateful beyond words to have the opportunity to do so, and will not reveal to those that do not already know of the how part, as it is a private matter, but again, one I am so grateful for, that there are no words in any human language to describe it.
Why? Because. Because, many things. These are known to those that need to know, and are not the concern of those who do not need to know - and no offense is intended to those in the second part of that statement, it just isn't worth being concerned about if you don't already know.
The next few weeks will involve some working on my house to prepare for sale, getting some things lined up and straight to get ready for the "jump" - at both ends of said leap, and saying "goodbye" to the city in which I have lived, quite happily, for the past 12.5 years. I'll be around, here and on Facebook, to answer questions that I am able to, and will always be happy to try and help out whenever I can with anything related to Roscoe in particular and bass in general.
You guys, the "Roscoeheads", have made this gig the best I've ever had, and one I am doubtful I will ever improve upon - I want to thank you for the 12+ years of great basses, great fun, and great people.
