Roscoe Club

Well.

My father used to use a phrase (I later learned it was from "The Walrus and the Carpenter", by Lewis Carroll) when I was a little boy and it was time for bed...
"The time has come, the walrus said..."

...and off to bed with little G.

Well, the time has come, walrus or no, to make a pretty big announcement:

Tomorrow, October 19, 2017, will b

You guys, the "Roscoeheads", have made this gig the best I've ever had, and one I am doubtful I will ever improve upon - I want to thank you for the 12+ years of great basses, great fun, and great people.

wow. i'm super late to this party but wanna join the chorus of i never thought i'd see the day.

on a positive note, we're gonna basically be neighbors! pretty sure i owe you at least a couple beers...

Kinda wish I had one of my fretlesses back...lots of fretless talk lately and I am trying to mimic a fretleess on a couple tunes at church.:help:

Bridge pup, a little mid boost and treble cut, playing by the bridge gets you a sort of sound. Maybe a little chorus or delay. We'll see as the pedal board grows.

I just can't swing a fretless, and it's only for a couple tunes now and again so....

I will take second from the left and the strap. :D

There are a lot of likes for the LG Koa with the Wenge fretboard! It has the Demeter preamp and sounds amazing!! Compared to the gloss finish LG with the Bird's Eye Maple fretboard, the LG Koa is in another class. Now those two fretless are nice, too. One with the Spanish Cedar has a very nice tone.
But, what am I saying.... they are Roscoe basses, so..!!

Yeah, that one isn't to shabby either.
Thanks. Can't believe I ever thought about selling it. My wife keeps me off the ledge. She insists I keep it. She actually used it as a prop for some pictures she had taken for a 10th anniversary gift for me. I can't share the pics but the bass looked nice, too.

It really is my favorite bass. The neck feels so good. It's really light at 7.8 pounds. It looks amazing and sounds fantastic - especially with my new Genzler MG 800 and BA12-3 rig. I honesty think it's one of the nicest looking Roscoes I've seen - including all the fancy shmancy ones. I picked out the top myself when I was at the old shop a few years ago. That was cool.

I miss my fretless a bit. I just didn't NEED it that much. I used it at church a lot. I can make this one sound kind of fretless with the bridge pup, add some mid, roll off a little treble, a touch of chorus or delay, etc.

Anyway, I can't imagine playing anything else. I try stuff at stores, and it's fine, and I could be happy with it I suppose in time, but I always stick with my Roscoe. My wife insists. :hyper:

I'm really happy with my bass, amp and DI/IEM set up so I'm delving into effects a bit. A little cheaper and easier to swap. Noting too crazy, just a few things for some added possibilities.

I'm considering installing :nailbiting: a different preamp in my LG 5'er with stock Bart. I've read in this thread that the Demeter gets the higher reviews, but also that it may not be possible to buy one now.
So, I looked out on the Demeter site and see the BEQP-1 preamp. Is this not the preamp that gets the great reviews?

I don't have my old century anymore (a customer of mine bought it and he's in love with it) , but after going through a unspeakable serie of mods (the veterans here on this thread know!) I settled on oem Bart wired to a switch for series/sc/par (which I ended up using 99% in parallel) and a slightly modified nordstrand 3b!
