Barts in that casing size can be CB or OB (OB = Original Bass, deep tone); dual coil 2-wire, dual coil 4-wire, or quad coil (dual rows of split coils) with a ton of wiring options. I think I've had them all in different basses. One of my favorites was the quad coil deep tone setup with 3-way switches for each pickup...even the 'single coil' setting were split-coil and hum-free. That was all before I entered the world of Roscoe!

Edit - Apparently, Bartolini recently started selling a true single coil mounted in this shape, too! I think they call it their Singularity series.

Those must be the Roscoe Bart’s. I’ve never seen 4 wire BART CB’s on a Roscoe.

I've been recovering for out-patient surgery for a little over a week now and finally felt good enough to pick up a Roscoe and record bit (sitting down of course). I wanted to hear how the mahogany Roscoe Century STD 5 sounded in a mix with re-installed Bart Hum-free JJ pickups so I thought that I'd work on a new R & B tune.
I really love the darker sound of the Bart's in this bass (Sorry Dave). Great finger style tone IMO.

Sounding good!! Clean and simple bass line, but it grooves really nice!! Liking that organ (B3) sound, too!!

It is an original Ray. The B3 sound is one of the patches built into Reason (triggered via a USB keyboard). Pretty authentic sounding isn’t it?

Yep, no doubt!! But I could tell no live B3 player was playing it ---- No constant chromatic pedal bass line movement!!! LOL

Do you have lyrics for it or do you just come up with musical ideas?

The ones Roscoe uses must be OEM. Every CB humbucker on Bartolini's site has 4 conductors. The only 2 conductors there are the Singularitys and some OB's.

Brief gig report
GF came to the show. She knows the band; she knows my gear etc.
She said she didn’t notice that I was playing the new bass til second set.
So, sonically it passes GF muster in at least it didn’t sound different enough to be immediately obvious.
When pointedly I asked her today if/how it sounded different she said “it’s wider and more polite and I never used to have to think about such things before you.”

I’m a lucky guy.

I def prefer last nights GK mbf800 and fearful 15/6/1 to tonight’s Mesa D800+ and 210/115 with this bass...The extra aggression is mo bettah

Clubs heads up;
As great a bass as this is, I knew this was “a science experiment” for me going in.
I’m solidly an active single coil Jazz guy; so that’s one part of this.
I can happily keep this and use it some; but in the meantime if anyone here has a Roscoe J5 they’d want to trade for; that might keep me in the brand...
If not that’s cool and I’ll post it f/s at some point. No rush tho, I do like it.

Greetings Roscoe owners. I’m about to be one. I just ordered this LG 3005 with Jazz Bart’s in 60’s position. I was hesitant bc I’ve never seen one LG that didn’t have the slanted Soaps. Can anyone on here comment on these? Have you ever played one or heard one with this option? I just hope it doesn’t lose its “Roscoe” mojo with this option. Seller at GC said it was dropped off as he was endorsed by Roscoe and when he is sent new ones he sells the older. Also from the pics I’m assuming it’s swamp ash solid? Unusual right? Usually book matched. Any opinions, insight or experience with these with J pickups option would be appreciated. I get this bass later this week

I've got a Roscoe with J pickups that I really like. I really only roll with single coil basses, and I love Roscoe basses, especially the neck, and the 60s position Bartolini J pickups on a Roscoe is a great combo. It doesn't have the same tone as dual coil humbucker Roscoes...but for me, that's a good thing. It sounds like me playing a great bass (although my playing isn't perfect, the bass is great).

Speaking of Roscoe fretless basses, Keith and Rik said that they only have enough Diamondwood to build about 5 more Roscoe fretless basses.

I have been doing ALL of my practice on my Roscoe fretless and the more I play it, the more I love it! Just because it is ALWAYS a good time to show a Roscoe...

Love it . Great playing too. It does have that active jazz tone for sure but I can still hear that Roscoe boutique mojo. Is that an SKB ? I’m kind of new to the Roscoe family. Should pair nicely with its soon to be siblings

Oh I like that one. I remember lusting over it when it was for sale but.......it had no fretless lines!

I'd like to have a "Roscoe Jazz" but not the Classic. As cool as they are, part of my love for Roscoe is the neck. I have never bonded with a traditional neck - except maybe a MIJ Geddy Lee jazz. I think I would rather have a Century with the neck I love and jazz pups than a Classic. Gives you that active jazz sound but with "the" neck of the Century.

I'd also like a fretless again for church. Just can't get away from wanting 3 Roscoes. I have one that is awesome and all I NEED but...someday.
