I have a lawn tractor. It constantly needs work so there's that.

I sold my old one before I moved. A used John Deere. it worked for what I needed it to. New house has about an acre of lawn (give or take). Not as much as the old house, but enough that life would be a lot easier. It's a tweener.

Another plus is look at the exercise you’ll get with that push mower. Plus you get a new bass lol. That’s a win win situation brother.

Recently this Bach cello stuff I'm diving into is making me think about 6ers. This is a level of GAS that I haven't felt in a long while.

What I need is a new lawn tractor, but what I want is to tell myself that it's only a few hours with a push mower each week, and to call Keith to see what he can set me up with.

Oh, the decisions and choices we have to make as responsible adults. Get new 6’er and get fit with the push lawn mower at the same time.

I had a similar choice a couple years ago (another bass or a new riding mower).
Since I have more basses than I really need (or can play) I bought a new Bob Cat zero turn mower. Great decision!
I cut my mowing time in half and now have more time to play my basses!

I resisted getting our Deere D140, since the push mower was a lot of my exercise program. We, too. have about an acre or rolling ground. In the heat of summer it'd take a weekend of effort and sleepless nights with leg cramps. Now, I can do it all in an hour, and I get two days a week back. And there's tow-behind cart that we've loaded up with many trees, bushes, and sacks of fertilizer.
Easy for me to say, since I have my Roscoe 6, but I'm really thankful for the Deere...

I’ve been keeping my Craftsman lawn tractor with a 54” mower deck functioning for about 10 years now. The cracked frame has been repaired and the transmission support brackets have been repaired a couple of times, but the 24 horse power Kohler engine is still strong.
I was looking at those Zero-turn models. They look really cool and fun to operate. A zero-turn with a grass catcher is certainly my next lawn mower when the Craftsman isn’t doing the job.

I feel lazy compared to you guys, we have a small city lot and have a service that takes care of our lawn, but it has never looked better (the the wife is happy), so $$$ well spent imho.

Back on the always germane topic of strings, I really like the D’addario XLs on my SKB, but when they go dead they really fade to a lifeless thud (as opposed to a good thud). And it seems like with this last set it happened while I wasn’t even playing the Roscoe very often. I had a set of DR Lo Riders laying around so I just put them on. I didn’t like them last time I tried them, but they sound pretty good now (my new Grace Felix2 preamp doesn’t hurt, for sure). We’ll see how they age.

Back on the always germane topic of strings, I really like the D’addario XLs on my SKB, but when they go dead they really fade to a lifeless thud (as opposed to a good thud). And it seems like with this last set it happened while I wasn’t even playing the Roscoe very often. I had a set of DR Lo Riders laying around so I just put them on. I didn’t like them last time I tried them, but they sound pretty good now (my new Grace Felix2 preamp doesn’t hurt, for sure). We’ll see how they age.

I've migrated from D'addario to GHS in the last few years. D's seem a bit brighter, and have more top end and new piano string clarity. G's seem to give me more growl and aggressive bite- and no one can hold a candle to their pressurewounds if you're looking for that kind of sound.

I haven't tried low tension flats yet. They're next on my list when I get the itch. Same with TI flats- but those are $$$.

I've migrated from D'addario to GHS in the last few years. D's seem a bit brighter, and have more top end and new piano string clarity. G's seem to give me more growl and aggressive bite- and no one can hold a candle to their pressurewounds if you're looking for that kind of sound.

I haven't tried low tension flats yet. They're next on my list when I get the itch. Same with TI flats- but those are $$$.

I have TIs on a couple of basses and l like them a lot, but I haven’t tried them on a 5 string. The same set has been on my Precision for more than ten years now, so amortized they’re not that expensive.

Lo Riders and Sunbeams are becoming my preferred strings on other basses. I haven’t had my LG3005 for long but am finding I don’t love the stock strings. I don’t hate them either. Very interested to see how you get along with Lo Riders.

That’s odd Oren. I’ve had OEM Roscoe Da’ddario strings on my Roscoes for 6-9 months before and they still sounded good. I wonder if shelf live affects their longevity? That being said, I love DR strings too. I migrate to them from time to time but since I can get the OEM Da’ddario strings from Keith at about 1/2 the price I typically stay with them.

These days I’ve got the OEM Da’ddario’s on my Signature and the Chrome flats on my Custom PJ Century. The Chromes sound in the neighborhood of the TI flats except with more tension (which is the deal breaker on the TI’s for me).
