**Rugby World Cup 2011**

I watched the NZ vs Argentina game at the fan zone here in Wellington last night. I'm not a fan of rugby, and never have been (yes that does exist in this country people :p) But I really enjoyed watching and was thoroughly impressed with the Pumas defense.

Rowing is a big sport in NZ. That's what i do. To be honest, can't what until the RWC is over. Whenever something happens to the All Blacks, the media goes absolutely nuts. It's like some sort of mass hysteria. Very off putting. If the All Black don't win the RWC, I'm gonna boycott the media till things settle down.

I'm into basketball and soccer (didn't call it by it's proper name as that would cause confusion amongst the American's :p) Neither of those sports are big over here. Basically it's rugby, or leave the room. That's probably why I don't like it. Correlli, I know exactly what you mean about the RWC. It's taken over everything. I won't get into any political comment, as that is not allowed, not that it makes a smidge of difference to anyone outside NZ, but I will say that the oil on the beaches of my home town is far more pressing than anybodies groin injury.

Just back from watching the Barbarians playing the South of Scotland.

For those who don't know :

The Barbarians are an invite only club of professional and/or international players from around the world.

The South of Scotland are an invite only team of amatuer players drawn from the borders clubs (the borders being, as the name implies, a region of Scotland :p ).

South of Scotland - 22
Barbarians RFC - 15

I thought Barbarians are invites only for players playing in the uk league, but i see i was wrong... (just visited their website)

There isn't a single league in the UK.

There is a big pro league in England, and the Celtic (was Magners, now Pro12) league that has Ireland, Italy, Wales and Scotland pro teams.

But aye, the Barbarians are international (granted, based/originated in the UK) :bassist:


(wish the Scottish 1st XV would take note!)

Dangerous tackle, don't think it should have called for a red. Considering it wasn't a repeat offence, it was early in the game and an important game too, I think it should have just been a yellow.

IRB laws leave the discretion to the ref in this situation, I just think it was a bit harsh.

I think the IRB are daft for using Alain Roland for this game. He's an Irishman with a French father.

So yes, let's use him in a match where Wales are playing France, the week after Wales knocked Ireland out of the tournament! Not like he would have any bias at all! :p

Good rugby tho.
