**Rugby World Cup 2011**

I think they've been trying to sort that for a while.

But they have to jump through whatever eligibility hoops there are (can't be that hard considering some of the internationals that play for other countries!)

His brother Sep came up to Edinburgh at the start of this season, he was playing with my amateur club but seems to have been signed to Edinburgh (local pro team that Tim plays for). So we may be seeing more of him in the near future too!

Scotland need to get over this issue they have with the 5m line.

We need to score tries to compete at international level. That's that.

It is heart breaking to go out when we could have (potentially) won all 4 games in that pool, the two we lost were damned close.

Argentina KO against Georgia soon, but it's 00:40 over here, so I'm going to hit the hay. All Argentina need is a loosing bonus point, anything else (and lets be honest, a win is expected) is the icing on the cake.

Going to have a nasty quarter final tho, had Scotland gotten through, we would have been pasted by NZ. I hope Argentina fair better!

In contrast, England *should* be able to pull out a fairly easy victory against France (if they keep playing the way they are).

South Africa - Australia and Ireland - Wales (well, how I see the QFs turning out), could be interesting tho.

That link didn't work bud?

How I think the RWC will go:

Pool A:
1st - New Zealand
2nd - France

Pool B:
1st - England
2nd - Scotland*

Pool C:
1st - Australia
2nd - Ireland

Pool D:
1st - South Africa
2nd - Wales**

1/4 Finals:
Australia - Wales
England - France
South Africa - Ireland
New Zealand - Scotland

...

I have maybe placed a bit of homeward bias, but regardless, it will be a tough set for Scotland, I have added a few notes below:

*Argentina could beat Scotland to this position.
**Samoa could beat Wales to this position.

Not been too far off the mark, Scotland and Argentina could have gone either way. Only real upset, in terms of the pool positions, has been Ireland beating out Australia IMO.

So with the Quarter Finals looking like this:

1/4 Finals:
Ireland - Wales
England - France
South Africa - Australia
New Zealand - Argentina

What do you guys think the outcomes are going to be?

Ireland by a small margin, I think they have the edge over Wales.

England by a reasonable margin, France have been pretty poor.

South Africa by a small margin. Australia just don't seem to have been playing to potential.

New Zealand by a reasonable margin, Argentina really had to fight and just seem to have lost the gas (the first half against Georgia looked painful!).

That would give us:

Ireland - England
New Zealand - South Africa

Which I'm not entirely sure which way it would go. Ireland have impressed me the most out of the home nations, so I would like to see them go through to the final. I think NZ - SA could either be really close, or an absolute pasting.

Either way, we are definately going to have a Northern vs Southern final :hyper:

1/4 Finals:
Ireland - Wales
England - France
South Africa - Australia
New Zealand - Argentina

Ireland over Wales, but too hard to call for sure. Ireland looked pretty comfortable against Italy (at least the bits I saw before the power went off). If the Welsh can break the Irish rhythm though, they could turn them over.

England should (theoretically) beat France, but they are far, far too erratic for this to be a certainty.

I'd probably go for Australia over SA; just because they always seem to pull a storming performance out of the bag when they really need to.

New Zealand for sure: they're just too consistant and they're at home.

Ireland - Wales
England - France
South Africa - Australia
New Zealand - Argentina

I'd love to see Wales beat Ireland but I think Ireland are slightly better.

England-France, hoping that France will get it together but England being the rugby equivalent of Germany in soccer will probably take it.

Australia-SA: dunno, extremely hard to say, is Beale fit? What an amazing player.

And NZ will beat Argentina, that's a given.

A Wales-NZ final would be brilliant :)
