**Rugby World Cup 2011**

There's always a queue of players wanting to take the place of an All Black.

Lots of Scotish supporters out and about tonight where I am in Wellington. :) I gotta say, Ireland are looking very very good. I expect to see them in the semi finals.

Well that was about as close as they get.

Looks like Scotland is out then, gutted :(

Argentina 13 - 12 Scotland

Amazing try, we should have been able to stop that one.

A few important calls went against us, Puma rolling the ball back causing Scotland to get pinged for a knock on, and at the attempted drop goal at the end, the Puma line was offside. Ach, what's done is done.

Still gutted :(

Best game I've seen in this RWC so far tho.

It was an amazing end to the game. But still, bitter taste left from that offside charge down.

That close to the end, that close a game, the ref should have listened to Park's call of offside and gone to the 4th official. I can stand loosing a game, but not when bad officiating has had such an impact :bawl:

What a breathtaking game! not a good game by either I think... the wind and rain might have had a lot to do.
It was a nice try too!

I'd say there were bad calls for both sides though, don't think Scotland lost because of that.

I just realized clasiffication might be complicated in this group.
There's also the chance that the three teams end up tied with 14 points, or even 15 points! in which case I'm not really sure how the decision goes. Local newspaper says it goes: games against each other - difference in points - difference in tries - most points - most tries - difference in ranking.

I don't think Scotland can make 4 tries against England though, can they?

We should have had a penalty at the end, which is something that could have made the difference. Especially when both teams seemed on a pretty even keel.

It was a good game, and no, neither team was on amazing form, but considering the weather, I think it was really good!

There is a chance for it to end all square in terms of points, even if we beat England next week (not likely), the outcome of the Argentina - Georgia game still determines whether we proceed or not (unless we beat England by more than 7 points and get 4 tries, not likely in the slightest).

Yeah, I was not aware of the penalty, and the TV commentators here didn't mention it. A friend of mine saw it though, he says it was a pretty obvious penalty by Contempomi, who noticed the ref was not looking at him at the moment...

I should point out that I'm not annoyed at the Pumas for playing it, it was a snatch and grab chance to make sure they could stop the drop goal attempt. Any team would have taken the same chance.

My problem is with the officials:

-Ref was looking the wrong way (he should have been on the other side of the breakdown).
-Linesmen should have noted the offside move.
-With less than a minute to spare, and a drop goal attempt impeded, the ref should have listened to Parks' complaint and checked with the 4th official.

Replayed the footage, I counted 3 players offside, Contempoli was at least 3-4m offside.

Gutting to be out the competition, but it's just so much worse regarding the circumstances that ended the game :(

The game against England should be at least entertaining to watch.

'mon Ireland!

If both Scotland and Argentina win their games at the weekend, Argentina will go through. Unless we get a 4 try bonus point and England are only 7 points behind (and you don't beat Georgia by 4 tries).

Basically, unless there is a major upset, England and Argentina go through. Argentina have a greater number of tries and a greater number of "points for". And considering the games we both have coming up. It's safe to say it'll be England and Argentina going through :p

Yeah Scotland, we're counting on you for that epic win that'll leave England out of the world cup! :p

In that case Argentina will need a bonus point against Georgia. If Scotland wins by more than 7 points and we win with a bonus point, we end first in the group and Scotland second. Then Scotland most likely goes on to meet the All Blacks!

Well, I'm a bit late to the thread, but yeah, it was a hard fought game with Scotland and Argentina, seriously not a lot in it!! Lots of calls for the penalty at the end which would have changed the match outcome...and it should have been a penalty...but wasn't....such is the nature of the game. Both sides missed extra points in the kicking game too - which might or might not have made the difference, but the try was just a wee bit of spacial genius and he dogded or shook off 4 or 5 players who just couldn't tackle properly....

Well done to Argentina!

So, everything to play for.....England will be a tough game, I doubt we can win, but will support my team to the bitter end, I doubt we can score 4 tries......but I hope I'm wrong about both of my predicitons!!!

'Mon the Scots:hyper:

Scotland shall win. I'll be wearing my beanie and throwing my supporters ball around the house all day.

Excellent!

It was a good run, but our defense shouldn't have been sparse like that, it's why you should have a solid line. Looking forward to this weeks game!
