I don't know how to post this in the Rumble Club (maybe some kind soul will show me) so I'm posting here. Bought a new Rumble 500 about 2 1/2 years ago, maybe, to use while my #1 was being serviced (thanks, @agedhorse). Pulled it out today after about 2 years of storage in the basement, where I store some of my gear. Everything worked OK, some scratchy pots that cleared up with exercising, BUT - the "Vintage" push button really sends a pop through the speakers. Turned down the Master and pressed the button silently several times but the sound remains when the Master is up. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Don't push the button w/volume up? ;)

Not sure if that's normal or not, I don't generally use any of the buttons on my Rs but would think that it shouldn't do that unless something is wrong with it.

Not sure why you can't reply to Rumble Club, there should be a text box at the bottom of the page?

Must be a signal still being fed into the amp that makes it pop at different times - did this happen all the time you've had your Rumble or just start recently? A component may be aging or going bad slowly - I dunno!

I get a pop if I turn off my Acoustic-brand bass amp with the Summina wireless transceiver/receiver set still on. Gotta remember to turn off the amp first - then the Summina units.

It's been so long since I used it I really don't recall whether it did it before. I think, though, that I might have mentioned it at the time if it did. 🤷‍♂️

Is the power source grounded?

Does it do this with nothing plugged into the front?

IIRC, there’s quite a bit going on with the vintage switch voicing, including a compressor and some filters. A fault with that circuitry can cause a loud pop.

Being ignorant in electronics, here's what I would try. Turn the amp off and push the button about a hundred times to see if that cleans up any oxidation. If not, I might try spraying a drop of DeOxit around the stem of the button and then pushing it a hundred times. Or, there might be a way to open up the case and spray it in a better spot. Other than that, wait for someone more knowledgeable to post a better way.

The Rumble Club is a very helpful place. You just scroll to the bottom of the whole thread and post your question in the "Reply" box like you would any other comment.

Leave the DeOxit out of the recommendations and it’s ok. Those switched are semi-sealed so this would make for nothing but a mess,
