'bout time he had actual amplifiers behind him. The humorous alternatives are all well and good, but I haven't seen him in front of real bass cabs since 1993. And dangit, I like cabs!

Sigh, just checked the tour schedule / map - I'm of course located just about dead center in the "hole" in the middle of their northeast loop, 4+ hours either way, and I'm guessing those shows (NYC and Buffalo) are already sold out.
I have played both the 3261 and Fireglo 4080/12 Ricks.View attachment 616270 Oops. Here's the list.
Several years ago! Here is a photo of the double neck at MARF III. I played the 3261 at the Rickenbacker 75th Anniversary celebration weekend in August 2006, a friend of mine owned it for many years and recently sold it to Geddy. The 4080/12 was a a basket case that was restored by another guy I know. It's actually really cool because the show progresses (regresses) from their current material all the way back to their earliest stuff. So throughout the show they continue to strip away all the more modern stage stuff. In the encore when they do working man, lakeside park, etc. the stage is set to look like a high school gym and Alex and Geddy just have single amps set up.
Awesome show!!!
You know they're dummy cabs, right?'bout time he had actual amplifiers behind him. The humorous alternatives are all well and good, but I haven't seen him in front of real bass cabs since 1993. And dangit, I like cabs!

Whoa, that looks like a pretty stripped down stage compared to previous years. Going old school, I guess. Wait, is Geddy playing through SVT's ??
All the amps are "dummy" amps made by Mojo.
If you look at the attention to detail, the cabinets even say "Dirk" in a play on the old Ampeg logo...not to mention the "ARF40" t-shirt lol...

He uses the magic of two Fractal Axe-FX to get his amplified sound now, so he could stand up there without anything behind him. But that's no fun, right?
Going on 5/28 in Greensboro, NC. Can't wait.
Thank you very much for the excellent review and pictures. You sir are a gentleman and stuff!![]()
