The woods all busted and cracked up, even the neck blank. The wood is basically worthless.
The point is, he paid for the wood separately, he's out $2500 plus the cost of the (now ruined) wood.
OP should listen to Joe. He should remove or rephrase post #207 before someone quotes it. It will then be too late to retract. OP seems to be led by emotion rather than logic. I understand the emotion...but still, choose your words carefully.

Noted. I said it though so I'm keeping it up there. I'm not going to do anything ilegal, just going to tell the truth. I've been holding back this entire time. What I meant by damage is only what is just due, meaning I have the right to tell the truth to whom ever will listen. What blowinblue said. Go back over every post, delete any that could be used to make you look vindictive rather than simply interested in a fair resolution of the matter. Nobody will hold it against you for taking simple steps to make yourself look like the patient and reasonable person you actually are. This could be important if the whole thing does wind up in court. Good luck!
That's all I want. Just my money back. Being very mad that you got ripped of is normal. It wouldn't look normal if I wasn't mad. I took it out anyway. Thanks for the advise though. Don't want to seem unappreciative, I am. Thank you!

I'm glad about one thing because I've seen quite a few of these stories around the net.. I found a guy that makes some dayum cool basses, clamps properly etc... Mine is on order and with zero dollars down because he understands that one or both of us could die before July.
To the context of the thread... a 2,500 lawsuit will get padded up to 3k or so with legal fees, filing fees etc... you'll never see the money, nearly impossible to place wage garnishments on the self employed. You can file the suit to a lein for more money, however, if he doesn't move, buy a new car or anything of asset, you'll be wasting your life away trying to keep tabs on a deadbeat. There's the whole federal crime (scam) thing too.. don't know how efficient that works but good luck.

Don't feel so bad though... I have a rental property that just helps pay my mortgage. ( my first house that I couldn't sell because of the 08 market crash)
Just got over an eviction. They didnt pay a month so the suit was for 2,200 but they were there an additional month because of due process... that's 3,200.... and a month to find someone new, $4,200
add in the time I spent, cleaning, trash removal, fixing broken stuff... total, 5k and I'll never see a dime of it. Since I'm self employed, I will spend some free time tracking them down though and some day they will regret what they did.
Alls I'm saying is to not be afraid to cut your losses and move on because karma is a b! Tch and I'm sure you don't need the stress regardless.

Do you know a lawyer? Maybe one that could write up a letter cheap?

I'm straight up just gonna call chamber of commerce tomorrow. It will be a start. It's funny that he won't return my calls and I'll leave messages and dudes deleting the mesages while I'm making them. He won't pick up the phone, or return emails or text so I'm just going to phone and email whoever else I can. I've been thinking about just going to bass camp because I'll be passing through at that time but I got me a rescue dog and don't want to leave her even with my parents. Maybe I'll contact a lawyer but that's just going to eat up money. I'm definatly going to look into the fed scam thing. The wood is toasted and wrecked so no point in even sending anywhere.
Could it be possible that he sent a check or money order you never received? Of course, if that were the case, he'd know it was never cashed (he would know you never got the money). Has he ever shown any evidence of having sent a refund?
Funny you mention Bass Camp, I went last year (and going this year) and one of the days Rybski came in to talk about basses, woods and other stuff. I was not overly impressed by him. Yes they look nice, but nothing special about the sound. In fact one of the students (a well known actor whom I will not mention) bought one and he also was not that impressed with the tone. Personally.....I'll stick with my Roscoe basses!
This luthier cannot spell 'curly', as the picture with the wood sent back shows. Enough said and good luck to the OP.
He probably would've sent an email. Never had something mailed to me that I didn't recieve. He could take a picture of the stub. That would take minute or two. Maybe he sent a check to my po box and it'll just take another week. If that were the case he would pick up the phone or return mesages. Could be I guess but likely not.
