It's a 1000 mile drive and I would spend the money in lawyer and travel. There's a better way.
Lawyers are not required for small clams court.
But, if you did go to court with a lawyer and won you could seek restitution and punitive damages which might cover your costs.
I'm not the guy that gets away with anything so no felony assault for me! I don't want to hurt his business even or take the last dollar out of his pocket. We could've worked something out but he lies to me when we talk and now he knows my number he won't pick up the phone. I would need one to file for me unless I could do that on the phone or through internet, mail. I don't know how it works. I've never sued before.
His actions, or lack thereof, certainly aren't helping his case (on here at least, but that may not matter much to him). Is there a summary post you could point me to of "his side of the story"? Is he claiming he sent the refund, or that you don't deserve one? I did read the earlier part weeks ago, but not at all recently.
I decided to stay out of this mess. Anything I said that I deleted was second hand info. I'm certainly not lying (and that's me in my avatar. I'm not Rybski). I just don't want to be part of this ongoing fiasco is all.
It's too bad it comes down to this, but other builders/manufactures have lost their reps here too like Dr Bass (cabs), and SGD.
I know that I read through here and ask questions if need be before making a serious purchase. Any controversy and I'm out. I have had 5 bass's built for me and had no problems but the builder was very close and easy to visit. Now when you deal with people 1000 miles away then it's hard to keep tabs on where your money goes. Or even if the guy is actually building you a bass. Any more I just play Fenders and they are easily had at every guitar shop. And really who needs more than a American Standard to get the job done. Having read through these last 5 pages and a quick search on TB and I know I will not ever order from, or recommend this particular builder.

Too bad, really, I know things went south and very sour at some point later - mine (DR Bass cab) was quite late, I was getting worried, but I did get it, and it really is an extremely awesome cab, I felt it worth the wait. Not everyone with a good product makes a good businessperson (hope nobody got stiffed too badly).

You sing the praises of Rybski a little too loud and yes you deleted a lot of your comments all of them with false info bashing me. You tried to make people think that I was a liar wether Rybski told you that or not, and if he did that makes him a liar. I posted a video of a phone conversation with him a month after you posted your bad info and he had still not paid me back. Hands down proof slam dunk. So tell us all exactly what did rybski say to you?

I'm a big fan and would sooo love to see that. I don't think Rybski has a case though. He'd never show up.

I deleted my posts because they were second hand info. There are two sides to every story, and I want no part of either side.
All I know is that Rybski is building me a bass, and I've seen the neck and body in person as well as a number of pictures of the progress. I like his basses, so yes, I sing the praises of Rybski as a viable luthier for ME, and I'll sing those praises as loud as I want to. The situation you have is between you and him.
You deleted posts stated that Rybski said, that he paid me back, that I was a bad costomer and hard to deal with, and that I changed my order. All those statements are lies and that's why you deleated them. You attacked my character with second hand info and in a rush to save your own integrity you deleated your statements. You involved yourself in this fiasco not me. Thank you for helping prove that this guy is a liar.
Again, and for the last time, what I posted and then deleted was second hand information, and there are two sides to every story, so I don't know who to believe. I am not a person, in this situation, who can state whether what I was told were lies, or not. Therefore, I want NO involvement in this. I didn't delete my posts to save my own integrity. I deleted them to get myself out of this discussion. I have nothing to prove. I even offered to help you! You've now made accusations against me as far as WHY I deleted those posts. If you feel that Rybski slighted you, do something other than direct your hostility at me as I don't have a clue about what's happened between the two of you.

That should be a no brainer. Rybski is very well aware of this thread, yet choosing not to come here and make things right.
He can easily log in and either state that the OP has been misleading, and is giving us inaccurate information - and tell us his side of the story - but he's not.
He can also easily come here, and admit to some wrong doing, and even perhaps the inability at this time to be able to re-compensate him. We all make mistakes. I have a very good feeling the OP would be fine with receiving payments over time, and also be amiable to working out some other solution/agreement. Like maybe the guy could build him a bass?
That's not happening.
Also, didn't say this in my last post, but I think talkbass is an excellent place to air this kind of thing out. We're the community that will make or break someone like Rybski, and if he's a theif, well it should be known. Here. If he has any integrity he always has the opportunity to right his wrongs. Not sure why he isn't. If he's reading this (which I'm going to guess he is) I really think it would be in his best interest all around to work something out with the OP, apologize, and be done with it. It's not that hard so long as we have the willingness to say, "Hey. I goofed on this one. But I want to make it right."
