S/D-85: Tasty clippings from Corey's Box

Well gents my marketing project is getting progressively more defined. after touring a Victoria's Secret with my group and talking to the staff, we've decided they need to create a sexy line of clothes for pregnant women, a market generally flooded with sad looking intimates for women who already have image issues with their changing bodies.
A survey will be generated soon, so those with pregnant or already been pregnant women please pm me so I can provide the survey (it's for your wives/sig others, not men) when it's ready... You'll be helping me graduate.

Ahhh, right. How is the Grind, by the way? I've tried them out in stores, and found them comfy.
Looks promising. The thing with the ultralites, though is that they're, well, ultra light. I'm not really eager to make this bass lighter than it already is, but if they're the only ones that would fit...
$300 is ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.
I've seen Sabbath with Ozzy, and with Dio. They were way better with the latter. I'd go see them with Ozzy, too, even today... if someone else bought the tickets.

I use my amp's overdrive for compression, and the high volume for sustain. If I need more of the latter, I just push the bass's body against my cab.
Dear prophets of decibels,
how tacky is naming a band after another band's album? My current band project is desperately looking for a name, and after months of anguish we have settled on something. We are naming ourselves after a Sunn O))) record (doesn't quite matter right now which one).
I know a handful of bands that took their name off a record, but my primary concern is that it raises expectations we can't quite fulfill. Like, we don't play drone. We do play doom, but more as a main ingredient in a bastard fusion with anything else we come up with. It's kind of unoriginal, but we feel the name describes what we do and is at the same time a nod to our influences.
What's your take on this? Okay or steer clear of it?
How unique is the name? Is it something that's only used by SunnO))?
We chose a horribly generic name, but ultimately, for us, it didn't matter as long it wasn't stupid.

Sunn O))) named themselves after an amp brand, and also in connection to their love of the band Earth.
There's a band called Dopethrone, presumably named after the album.
There's another band named Spiral Architect, after the song.
Mayhem's drummer took the name Hellhammer, after the band.
So I think it's probably okay.

I would say yes. Find out how old the tubes are, but yeah I think that's a decent price. If I'm not mistaken it's the guitar version (V4 vs V4B?) I could be wrong about that, though.
Oh yeah, the price is a fugging joke. Still, sometimes my local market surprises me and a cool piece like this pops up. It's not always used MT-2s or Corts.
I know what you mean, it's nice to see cool stuff pop up locally. In a smaller town there's just a lot of mediocre gear for sale.
So, it's a nice amp and all...
But why the hell do I see amps with one transformer on one side, and the other in the middle, so damn often? It seems like really obviously stupid placement, from a practical point of view.
The transformers are the heaviest components in the amp, so why not put one on each side of the chassis, and make it at least balanced?
Me too. I love the look of the old mesa 400s and SVTIIs. A good Roto mold case would weigh a lot less than a wooden headshell, too.
