Had a good FM practice tonight got another part down of the new song. Were moving slower than I want be you can't rush it, and we have plenty of time to get things done before DOTD and whatever shows we play before it. So I'm not worried. Also were trying out a singer next practice. Who the guitarist tells me is really into what were doing and wants to be in the band, enough to have started lyrics for the one song we have out there. He also plays keyboard/piano so this might be pretty cool addition.
Got VEGA practice tomorrow...that will go great as it normally does, just have to shake off any rust that left.
And ok we talked about juggling multiple bands not to long ago but its finally starting to apply in my situation now that VEGA is back and were picking up where we left off. Where were at is once we get tight again, were recording ready. We could play a show next weekend if we had to. Flying Medusa is still in the writing stage and could probably be show ready by end of the month if we had to. BUT at the present moment we are not show ready, the bands are at different points. I can only truly speak for myself, I'd hope the drummer feels the same way he says he does, but both bands are equally important to me and I'd like to continue both. And there's enough style differences between the two. VEGA being a lot heavier and more jammy and reaches into massive slow DOOM, while still FM is a lot more structured and one the lighter side of stoner rock into psych rock. All four of us, both guitarists, get along and are trying to stay completely truthful with how me and the drummer feel about pulling double duty. Were keeping an open mind about it all and taking things one at a time. I feel were handling really well at this point.
Anyway, FM got asked to play a the Lo Pan/Whores show in later March. FM could probably totally be ready by then, and really it wouldn't matter which band played it, as long as I got to play it, but a large part of me would rather see VEGA play that show. Reason VEGA hasnt gotten asked, yet, because the guy booking the show more than likely doesnt know were officially back yet, otherwise I'm positive hed ask us. My feelings are mainly because VEGA is more or less show ready now, and Flying Medusa has DOTD on the horizon, while VEGA doesn't have anything, besides hopefully recording the debut ASAP.
SO for people with experience doing the multiple band thing, how do you decide which band gets which show?

My question to you is what do you mean by blow up? Like need new trannies, new tubes or fuses or all the above and more? I figure at $400 I'll remain silent until there then nit pick and haggle in person. I figure I'll like it, or worst case sell probably for a profit.

Oh and $475 later new couch,rug, tv stand and coffee table and floor lamp. Tomorrow my wall gets erected. Then hyper clean and I'll have one decent bachelor pad.

Can't be specific other then it seems the era with bad luck. But like I said it not really hard evidence just observation. Haggle him down if you can and look up how swappable that 6cg7 really is. My quick look siding say anything about useing 12ax7 in its place.

Yeah I didn't remember it being so psychedelic at the end. Not sure how I remembered it at all I think I was like 5 when I saw it.
I guess calling a rip off last night was alittle harsh. It's book is from '65. I'm sure if you watch it you'll know what I mean.

So hard to predict what a 2 year old will like.
I went through a similar thing years ago. The stoner rock band I was in got a new bass player. He was also in another band that had just broken up, but they had two gigs booked. So the guitarist and myself (I was playing drums in this band) learned 5 songs from the old band and we played the shows. One of them was opening for Weedeater, I would have much rather had the stoner band for that show, but it was Sam (the new bass player) that booked the show with the old band so we played as that band. It was the band that the venue was expecting, it was the band that was billed on the flyers.
Our new guy was happy and we went on play a lot of cool shows with the stoner band. I guess my advice would be to let the band that was offered the show play the show. Let the booking guy know that Vega is ready to go again and he'll help you out down the line. But for the upcoming show, I'd just stick with the band that was offered the show.
For the few of us on here that do like heavy psych stuff LOL, I stumbled on these guys yesterday.

Looks cool, I'll check this out later today. Going to have my nose buried in binders proofreading all day so the music helps.
It's probably only one and may just need the tube socket cleaned. Had that problem recently. Also pre tubes are cheap
Did some songwriting/jamming with the band last night. We were trying to work in a bridge on a song and couldn't get the part to feel right. I tossed out the ol' "let's go halftime here" and it seemed to fit pretty well. So the song's cruising along and then, boom, the halftime part hits and it's kinda jarring, but in a good way. I always like that effect and it's fun to play.
Accept Death's self-titled debut is rotating in my player again and I somehow saw a review totally bashing the record. I thought it was one of the better sludge records I've listened to, really ****ed up in a good way.
Can't remember ever hearing the name on this board, though. But I swear I hear a 7/4 riff in the opener, I wonder why odd time signatures aren't really popular with most bands?
