Sorry guys. I didn't mean to sound like I was bashing Sadowsky's. I wasn't. I guess it did sound like that though.
What I was trying to figure out from you guys is WHY Sadowsky's are so good?
That is quite different from what you said which was that you didn't think they were worth $4k.
Couple things, one I bought both of mine used. One was from a cool guy in Minnesota and the other from Roger. The one I bought from Roger was a bass they let artists borrow. It was leant to me and I had to buy it.
Now, that doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a new one at $3,375 - $4,500. Not at all. I am impatient and when I decided to jump off the Warwick ship and onto the Sadowsky boat I couldn't wait for 6 - 8 months (though I tried).
Also, I was very interested in getting a PJ5 and those weren't made in the more readily available Metro's.
Why are Roger's basses so good? It is a lot of things I can see and a bunch that I can feel and hear. Hard to explain until you've played one. I have played just about everything (other than newer boutique stuff - not my thing anyway) and Sadowsky's just feel and play right for me.
I have battled carpel tunnel and tnedinitis for years to the point that there would be weeks I couldn't play because my left hand hurt so much. Imay be getting arthritis too (at 35) which really sucks. It has slowed my playing down considerably. I can still play well but not nearly as fast as I use to. Sadowsky's are so comfortable and perfect for me that I rarely have any problems with pain.
Tone wise I have never heard anything so rich and clear. They have made me SOUND better. If I can't play better then at least I can sound better. They are truly MY tone. Just exactly what I have wanted.
Attention to detail is beyond words. I have played probably 15 Sadowsky's and have never found a "flaw" in them. Even the Metro's which were about half of what I have played.
That is pretty funny. I have played as many Sadowsky's as Rob has owned. Rat bastard! LOL
