Sadowsky got me again!!!!!!!

Sorry guys. I didn't mean to sound like I was bashing Sadowsky's. I wasn't. I guess it did sound like that though.

What I was trying to figure out from you guys is WHY Sadowsky's are so good?

Why is a Lexus considered better than a Camry, an Acura better than a Honda, an Infiniti better than a Nissan. All are based on a good, solid, reliable design (ala Fender). Making subtle and not-so-subtle changes to make a basic product more luxurious, and yes, more expensive (ala Sadwosky, Lakland, etc) provides an alternative for those who appreciate the reliable design but enjoy the greater level of comfort, ride, and smoothness. I am condsidering buying a new Sadowsky. To me, it's worth the
extra money, but then I'm willing to pay more for a nicer ride.

Just my 2cents.

If we knew, we'd be able to replicate the magic. Seriously though, it's just good woods + great electronics + serious attention to detail + wonderful ergonomics. It's just a receipe that works for some of us. It doesn't hurt that when you order a Sadowsky you know it will be good. You don't have to guess or be anxious.

Thanks. That's what I wanted to know, because so far all I've heard is "they're awesome" and I was unsure why. Like I've said, all I know about them is what I've read on this forum and musicianforums, and what I've read on the website.

CONGRATS ON THE BASS!!! I have a matching Headstock as well and I love it! even though I'm a traditional guy. Have you tried the 10" radius on the UV's?

HI

WOW Saw that bass on Ebay a couple months ago. You got it? totally cool. I have a UV70's jazz, also. Like it alot. I think I'm gonna sell it to pay for the pj, though. Its a smokin' bass. Light for a metro. Here is a pic

That is quite different from what you said which was that you didn't think they were worth $4k.

Couple things, one I bought both of mine used. One was from a cool guy in Minnesota and the other from Roger. The one I bought from Roger was a bass they let artists borrow. It was leant to me and I had to buy it.

Now, that doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a new one at $3,375 - $4,500. Not at all. I am impatient and when I decided to jump off the Warwick ship and onto the Sadowsky boat I couldn't wait for 6 - 8 months (though I tried).

Also, I was very interested in getting a PJ5 and those weren't made in the more readily available Metro's.

Why are Roger's basses so good? It is a lot of things I can see and a bunch that I can feel and hear. Hard to explain until you've played one. I have played just about everything (other than newer boutique stuff - not my thing anyway) and Sadowsky's just feel and play right for me.

I have battled carpel tunnel and tnedinitis for years to the point that there would be weeks I couldn't play because my left hand hurt so much. Imay be getting arthritis too (at 35) which really sucks. It has slowed my playing down considerably. I can still play well but not nearly as fast as I use to. Sadowsky's are so comfortable and perfect for me that I rarely have any problems with pain.

Tone wise I have never heard anything so rich and clear. They have made me SOUND better. If I can't play better then at least I can sound better. They are truly MY tone. Just exactly what I have wanted.

Attention to detail is beyond words. I have played probably 15 Sadowsky's and have never found a "flaw" in them. Even the Metro's which were about half of what I have played.

That is pretty funny. I have played as many Sadowsky's as Rob has owned. Rat bastard! LOL ;) :hiding:

Before my first Sadowsky bass, I had two fenders with Sadowsky electronics and pickups. I didn't realize how big the difference was of the overall package. To respond to the Sadowsky haters, if you got the dough, it's worth it. I currently also play a Lakland DJ with Sadowsky electronics and pickups but it doesn't replicate the magic. still it worked out 1/2 the price of a Metro.
Can you PM me with more specifics on your UV. I'm a Pearl Block guy, but could be tempted for the right price. Also, does the 10" seem a lot smaller? I almost bought a '64 last week but couldn't get over the refin.... ooohhh.
The DJ neck is not my favorite, but I have a '62RI with an itty bitty neck that is my fastest player. Nothing feels as solid as my Sadowsky though.

HI

LOL. I'm just fickle, Mike. I've liked them all. I just like getting new colors and configurations. I've also bought a number of them used.

I have 5 now. I would like to sell my two metros to fund the pj. Truth is, I dont care if they sell. If I get my price, fine. If not, two more cool basses in my house and to take to gigs. They wear out slower if you have a few to rotate. Sorta like shoes. LOL

I agree with Mike for the most part. I'd also like to add I love the basic feel, design, and tone of older Jazz basses. I've owned a number of them. A Sadowsky, to me, is the perfect jazz bass. Roger took, in my opinion, the ultimate design, and smoothed out all the rough edges. He then added the most musical pre I've ever used and heard.

I was hooked the first time I did a rehearsal about 6 years ago

HI

Here we go again. Maybe I should have kept my new bass to myself

Rob

I hate to say it, but I did not really share the last 2 Sadowskys I got...would really like to but not worth the headache...It's OK to post a "Got a new XXXX" but taboo when it comes to Sadowsky I guess...I'll cheat a bit, here is my latest and my main player now! LOL!

I know you will love yours as much as I do mine!! Best basses out there, period!! Don't want to buy anything but more Sadowskys now!! Congrats!!!

Hey BP, Been sick and busy and a little of both at the same time! Gig is going good and on the borderline of getting great. Picked up a MONSTER gTar player over the past couple of weeks and had him and a drummer in over the weekend doing some stuff trying to get a feel for it all. SO far so good!! Don't tell me about the Butterscotch P at the shop...I almost broke out the CC!! LOL! If he has a Butterscotch JJ too I MIGHT be in trouble??? Play the heck out her!

Peace,

T
