If Metroexpress are Chinese made they wont hold the value as the current Japanese ones. And I have doubt about quality....

Sadowsky in distribution agreement with Warwick

Dingwall makes a Chinese bass that is top notch quality and one of the best value holder. I dont see why Warwick/ Sadowsky cannot make similar quality bass.
Maybe, but that is what customers are charged. Sadowsky is probably buying electronics in bulk at a cheaper rate. The man is allowed to make a profit.
I am going to withhold my judgement until these basses are reviewed. Personally, I don’t mind a cheaper version as long as it has good wood (no doubt it will be over 9 lbs.) the dimensions for the neck, good fretwork, and sounds good.
I don’t think this has been shared yet. There are some shots of bssses in the background.

Sure, there is a profit on the pickups and preamp. That goes without saying, but there will also be a profit on the MetroExpress instrument. Add up the rest of the parts and if the reported price is correct, then the preamp and pickups almost have to go the "designed by" route. Even labor were free in China we're not going to get a $6k NYC bass for $1k.
I was changing the strings. Without the strings' tension the nut just... fell off. I guess someone forgot to add glue.
Warwick nuts are height adjustable via two allen screws, therefore they cannot be glued in. There is a plate mounted to the neck, and the nut 'docks' with that permanent piece and is held down by string tension.
Who expects a $6K bass for $1K? I certainly don’t. I can look at the website and see where both the current MetroExpress and Satin Series are less expensive than the full blown NYC Sadowskys. As I have said several times, cheaper not mean cheap.
Ok, the only thing I'm saying and maybe I'm not doing it well is that I think it's unlikely that a MetroExpress targeted at $1k will have the NYC preamp and pickups. Not trying to rain on anybody's parade.
If the pickups and preamp are anything like the designed by Nordstrand pickups I had in the Ibanez TMB 605 I used to own, I will

I own a Dingwall D-Roc Standard. It is made in China. The quality is impressive.
Chinese manufacturing has a bad reputation for several reasons. For me, the relevant problem is that Chinese manufacturers scale to fit. If you want a bass that can be manufactured, shipped and delivered to your home for less than $75, Chinese manufacturers can do that. If you want a bass that will stand up against the best of the best (and my Chinese Dingwall can do that), Chinese manufacturers can do that too. They will scale quality and components to meet a price point. You get what you pay for.
Let those with Japanese Metros look down on Chinese Sadowskys. They weren’t made for their demographic. I will be very happy to have a Sadowsky that fits my budget.
That's what it looks like reading that article. I don't think it's a bad thing, it's not like Warwick don't know how to make basses and I don't think Roger would want to tarnish his reputation by doing the wrong thing.
If this gives more people the opportunity to own a Sadowsky that's great, you have entry level, intermediate and high end with a price to match, as has always been the case.

Only had the occasion to play a Sadowsky a few times and was impressed.
My take is that this will be a good meld of talents.
Cnc machines work only as well as the programming and maintenance .
The tolerances achieved on the German Warwicks is such that the neck is tight, interference fit.
I expect great things, I can see special woods showing up.
Now id love to see some crossbreeding

Good move for all parties, including us consumers. Warwick's Chinese factory knows how to build basses, based on my 1st hand experience with them. And those team built German basses are actual high end basses, just without the ridiculous custom shop overhead the fancier versions have.
