Sadowsky in distribution agreement with Warwick

I know we don't have an official answer yet, but I'm most curious whether Satin Series will continue to be produced in the NYC shop. @deepestend @Sadowsky

You are correct. That is what I meant. It's TBD until they release an official announcement.

MetroExpress- China
MetroLine - Germany
Sadowsky Masterbuilt - Germany
Sadowsky NYC - USA, moving to a smaller shop

I, too, am curious about the difference between German Masterbuilt and NYC crafted instruments.

I'm wondering if this means that NYC basses will be special order only, or if they will continue to produce a number of instruments for the those of us who enjoy going to the website to drool at the pretty basses?

Roger Sadowsky has previously said that the Metro express basses wouldn't weigh more than 8.5 lbs, and I'd be surprised if that changed. I own a Metroline basses which was made in Japan and had a limited choice of options, colour, pickups, etc compared to the NYC basses. I've tried a current Metroexpress and it was nice, perhaps the finish was more premium on my Metroline, but in general, it was very close. AFAIK, there are so few Metro Express basses in the UK because Roger wouldn't allow anything that wasn't up to his high standards pass QC. The idea of a readily available Sadowsky for the masses was not going to happen at the rate they were being produced, so the Warwick partnership makes total sense to me, and I strongly believe Roger isn't going to let the high QC standards slip.

I've had good experiences with both Sadowsky and Warwick, seems like a very good idea, imo.

Not to mention the fact that it makes a lot more sense to be able to try a bass before buying it (the seven day trial period is great but there's nothing like being able to sit in the showroom and compare several basses).

I visited Sadowsky HQ last November and probably spent an hour in the bass room. Absolutely incredible instruments! I went specifically for the purpose of comparing the Satin Series Modern vs Vintage.

Actually China is the factory of the whole world, and they produce Apple etc...Yet!I'd rather buy something that 100% made in Japan or Germany. That's why I do not worry about Metros, but MetroExpress? I had a Rockbass Corvette by Warwick made in China around the early 2000's and it was the poopiest, terrible bass I have ever tried. Cheapest scrapwood, weak hardware, neck was diving like tossed out fridge from the 10th floor, impossible to tune it due to weak tuning pegs. This experience made me thinking about quality of basses made by Warwick in their Chinese facilities. However, it was long ago and I might be wrong with my perceptions. Some Skyline Lakland basses are also made in China and I have heard good things about them. This partnership with strict quality control can be a great story....I hope it will cause Sadowsky has been famous for consistent qualities with no compromise. German made Warwicks are awesome instruments as well.....Somebody still needs to convince me about Chinese budget basses.

I know nothing about Warwick, but I do know Sadowsky are legendary for their QC. I knew about that before I'd ever seen a Sadowsky bass in the flesh.

So are the German made basses going to have Sadowsky QC or Warwick QC.

And Chinese QC? What's that like?

Germans are like Japanese in terms of quality, craftmanship, precision etc.. and their instruments are easily on pair with US boutique basses. So, the quality control is the same with Warwicks and Sadowskys. Chinese QC wasn't good in the past, but since they have developed and adopted technologies which is essential for quality. And don't forget that these days they're producing high end stuff as well Bose, Apple etc...

I've been thinking about Sadowsky for years now in the advent of companies offering another super jazz like Kiesel and Sire, offering a budget version. This maybe their response to trying to offer something to appeal to that market.

Ok so I’m seriously considering ordering a NYC Satin 5-21 with a “Blue” body and Morado neck. Here are the possible blues, I will be doing a Black Pearl Guard. What’s everyone’s opinion?

Nothing happened there. We're just moving the Metro and MetroExpress lines there for better worldwide distribution. It's no secret that we've been having issues getting the MetroExpress basses into the hands of players. This should hopefully eliminate the back orders and delays on that line.

Chinese made instruments has very very bad reputation around Asia, QC is really bad.... and if you ask me, even I am Chinese, they have bad sense of copyright around the area, you could even find Custom Shop decales and fake parts all around, I presume you will see a lot of fake products selling around...

Nonsense. You pay for high quality in China, you will get high quality in China.
