Sadowsky's amp!!!!!! ?????

I have an Aggy 359. It wasn't much less than this amp. It's 200 watts and worth every penny...Discgraham said:

Okay, I have had telephone conversations with both Roger and Jim B, and I thought I'd pass on these couple of nuggets of information.
The SA200 is, indeed, rackmountable, and it will ship with rack ears.
The SA200 is, indeed, built by Koch and as such, it shares some similarity in design to the Eden VT-300B. But, Roger's amp is no Eden copy and it differs in many ways. For example, it has a different EQ section, no compressor (which I don't find all that useful on the Eden, anyway), and two gain stages on the preamp side (gain plus volume) in addition to the master gain stage for the output section. This would seem to allow you to dial in a wider variety of overdriven tones at lower volumes, among other things. Also, the SA200 has settings for 2/4/8 ohms, while the VT-300B has settings for only 4/8. There are other differences, but these are the ones that jumped out at me.
The SA200 is rated at 220w with EL34's, but it will accept numerous other modern power tube types (including 6L6's, KT-66's, 6550's, & KT-88's!), and would have higher power output with 6550's/KT-88's. There are user accessable bias trim pots. Yea!
All in all, Roger sounds genuinely excited about the SA200, and I am certainly in that same boat! Hopefully, I won't have to wait too long to get mine.
And as for the 2x10, it is, indeed, a rebadged HT210S (which is, of course, a killer little cab).

OK. Time to chime in. I am expecting my first batch of amps within 30 days. Dolf Koch and I have been designing this amp for 3 years and it is finally done. If it were too similar to the Eden VT300, neither one of us would have spent the time on this project. The first prototype was evaluated by Michael Rhodes of Nashville and he tells me he has been dreaming of this amp every night for the last two years. I am very proud of the amp and it has been very well received in Japan. The amp will be $2800. Unfortunately, the Euro climbed 20% against the dollar since we began the project. Each amp will be burned in and tested at our shop before shipping. The SA200 will be sold direct on 7 day approval, just like our basses. It will include rack mount brackets.
There is no question that the all tube bass amp is a small and limited market. All I want to do is create a benchmark amp---one that sets and perhaps raises the bar. I won't even try to convince anyone they need to spend $2800 on an amp. No one needs this amp. However, I hope enough of you will want one--at least enough to try it for 7 days
The current SA210 cabinet sold in Japan is a rebranded Bergantino. However Jim just made us a prototype high efficiency 4x10 to match up with the amp for Japan. We love this cabinet and Jim and I will probably redo the 2x10 in this design as well. The result will be a true Sadowsky/Bergantino co-designed speaker---not just an existing Berg with my name on it.
Both Dolf Koch and Jim Bergantino are great designers and friends and it is a joy to collaborate with them.

In truth, based upon our discussion, other than the inherent similarities that you will have when two amps are designed by the same person, I felt that it was in fact quite different from the Eden. I certainly don't feel that it is going to be anything like a copy of the VT-300A, or else I wouldn't be so interested in buying one!
As for the 4x10, I know that Jim is really happy with this cab (perhaps even more so than he initially expected!
). I hope that between the two of you, it will be made available here in the States, too.Thank you for your dedication to seeing this design through to the finish. We don't have many all-tube options available to us anymore, but even better, you do seem to be aiming for the high water mark.

I have been asking Roger some more questions about this amp, and he sent me some futher specifications. These are not published anywhere that I know of. I asked Roger if I could share this information, and he said that I could. Please note: I am not affiliated with Roger Sadowsky or his company in any way. In addition, he did not ask me to post this information. It was provided to me in response to a direct question that I presented. It was my desire to share this information, not Roger's (though again, he did give me permission to post it if I wanted to share the specs).
